Sevilla (A) | Post Match Thread

Good performance against a decent Sevilla on a poor run of form. However as the saying goes, you can only beat what's in front of you.

I thought Akanji looked like he'd been at City for years. He tired towards the end, but not only was this his City debut, it was his first game of the season, PLUS he's a new Dad with a balling sprog. He had a calm assuredness which kept the defence calm whenever under pressure. Brilliant debut.

Gomez had a good game too & showed some excellent touches & was defensively sound in the main. He's young & still needs to get to know us better, but if he continues as he is, we may have gone some way to resolving our LB problem.

It was good to see Philips back. We need him as cover/competition for Rodri. Rodri's looked a little tired over the last 2 matches & Philips looked on it when he came on & looks more like the player we expected. Now we'll have the option of the double pivot in tougher games.

That was way better from Foden & Palmer did well & slotted in seamlessly when he came on.

A good first CL Group game of the season. Roll on Saturday...

Thought Foden was really good tonight. Gomez also.
Cole Palmer just slots in.
Erling, what can you say ? :)

Love this from the BBC.

Andy J: He could play at the world cup as his own country - England, Poland, Haaland.
Conot McNamara on BBC as well

Been at most of Man City's games this season. The only comparison I can think of for Haaland's impact - coming into an already very good team - is when we first saw Jonah Lomu emerge with the All Black's. You just think: How is any opposition going to stop this guy?

Great all round Performance tonight
Although sevilla fan was giving it large on a megaphone
The Home support didnt look too happy at the end
Still Their songs sounded Good

Hopefully Foden will kick on, solid full debuts, the inevitable Haaland and a glimpse of some great passes from Phillips. Good times.
I think the few good things Phil has done thus far this season have been from the right wing.

Plays much better coming in from the tight than from the left.

Grew in confidence too as the game went on. Hopefully he will
Kick on.

Was very impressed with Akanji, looked solid and slotted in well.

Considering the problems we've been having at CB injury wise, his signing could prove to be very significant.
