Agreed.Keeping control of the football is paramount to Pep.
He probably did, but direct ? he passed it backwards most times, and rarely drove at their defence.Grealish did that well and was more direct than normal.
Phil made himself more dangerous, but Phil is great on both sides, and his workrate is far better than Jack's, so that was nothing to do with Grealish imho.Him playing on the left made Foden more dangerous too.
Exactly this. Other than getting a goal or an assist I’m not sure what else is expected of him. Definite improvement in his attacking movement with the ball. Obviously he needs to keep improving, but I’m not sure why people need to criticise when his performance was obviously better than his recent ones.Keeping control of the football is paramount to Pep.

Still learning the position as a converted winger tbfI hope you’re right about Gomez and players should always given a season to Integrate into Pep’s squad but I thought his positioning whilst defending definitely needs to be worked on. However he showed some great touches so fingers crossed he can do a job, only young so promise there.
I think someone said 885 in the match thread, decent at such short noticemore so with short notice
Possibly realising he’s way out of his depth! Seriously needs to sort his shit out he’s not at villa anymoreGrealish looked pissed off
Of the two, I’ve more confidence in Akanji in those scenarios - but it’s only first impressions of course, and perhaps they can both do the job.I' m say nowt until ive seen Akanji and Gomez play when were under the cosh against the top teams
Played well I thought. One of our better performers first half.Possibly realising he’s way out of his depth! Seriously needs to sort his shit out he’s not at villa anymore
I thought Grealish was very good tonight. As was Foden.Keeping control of the football is paramount to Pep.

I've no problem with Grealish as a player, when he's good he's good, but tonight wasn't one of those nights, hence Pep pulled him off after 62 minutes, clearly he wasn't happy, and nor was Pep, hence the debrief which the camera's showed, and then the obvious "sulk", so it wasn't so he can start on Saturday v Spurs, (happy to be quoted on Saturday if wrong).
Were you expecting 6-1 at the swamp?Must say that's the worse away end I've ever been in
Yeah but we played pretty shit in the first half (50 minutes to be fair).Played well I thought. One of our better performers first half.
One is an experienced international centre back with loads of champions league games under his belt. The other a young converted winger still learning how to be a full back. Slightly unfair comparison tbfOf the two, I’ve more confidence in Akanji in those scenarios - but it’s only first impressions of course, and perhaps they can both do the job.
I would agree, but we were pretty poor in the first half, so not exactly a ringing endorsement is it, and in the second half he was hooked because he got worse.Personally I thought he had a pretty good first half but struggled a bit in the second.
Still thought he played pretty well in the time he was on the pitch. I think he went off because he was just coming back from injury and probably isn't up to full fitness yet. I would expect that the plan was always for him to play 60 mins and ease him back in.I would agree, but we were pretty poor in the first half, so not exactly a ringing endorsement is it, and in the second half he was hooked because he got worse.
