Maybe not many units of troops there as Russia never thought in their wildest dreams Ukraine would ever reach there.

That is the big strength of these deep attacks, they are breaking through the defensive line into areas they havent planned to be defending, they havent set up any trenches or equipment, they dont have enough troops to slow the offensive, supply lines not set up and so on, Ukraine are literally steamrolling over them and they cant react to it.

russia's top down command where their soldiers arnt allowed or able to make any autonomous decisions is the opposite of what you want in this situation, they cant react to the freeform high tempo fighting that is now occurring, they are literally headless chickens without any strategy to stop this offensive.

If ukraine can keep their spearheads supplied they can keep pushing deep behind lines into weak russian defences to try cut of the main front line, without supplies those russians are fucked. Hopefully this is what is happening at Izyum.
