What's the likelihood of this getting cancelled? Was due to attend with my brother and nephew; first game since the Leicester 6-3. Not gonna lie I'll be livid if it's postponed, I understand some will want a time for reflection but does the entire country have to grind to a halt?

Not sure if wumming or absolutely mental.

Wumming? Definitely not.

Absolutely mental? Perhaps, but even as someone who isn't a great supporter of the Royal Family, I do have huge respect and full understanding of the depth of feeling and respect that our late Queen has around the world.

Sport is irrelevant at a time like this. I'm absolutely appalled by some of the embarrassingly disrespectful comments on this thread.

No chance it gets cancelled my opinion.

A very sad day for this country and the world.

It would be massively disrespectful for any sport to be played in the UK for the next week at least.

Football means nothing.
Give over. Football means nothing? It means everything to vast swathes of people up and down the land. A very, very old woman who lived a privileged life the rest of us could only dream of has passed away. It's a shame, and respects can be paid without depriving some of the only source of enjoyment they get from their day to day week.

Personally, a respectful minutes silence at games this weekend including City v Spurs(and Black armbands) will more than suffice I believe. The impact on a nation that is already struggling if there are12 days of mourning would be very damaging. Businesses on their knees could shut and lose more money, staff already struggling to pay bills would not be paid.
Obviously, you feel for anyone's family,/friends when someone close dies and I have nothing against her as a person.
There's nothing wrong with feeling sad if celebrities you don't know die (I thought itvwas sad when Taylor Hawkins died)
However, the whole concept of the Royal Family and the amount of money that Is handed out to them when so many are struggling is very devisive anyway. Potential mass disruption to people's work and leisure time (so important in grim times,)would only add to this.

Where have you seen or read that definitive news.
Don’t think people realise the magnitude of what’s happened today . We are now in unknown territory as a country so I’d be shell shocked if any sporting events go ahead in this country at the weekend . As for my humble opinion well if the gane is cancelled it’s not the end of the world is it .

I'm rather bemused that people think others should stop activities. If you want to pay your respects by stopping everything for 10 days, fair play to you, no problem. But there's no reason to impose it on everyone else.

When those on the Queen thread see this, prepare yourself for all the notifications...

;)

Herr Klopp if games do go ahead:
My players suffered more than anyone else due to the death of Queen Elisabeth.

Herr Klopp if games get postponed:
I like everyone at City. But postponing the fixtures is playing in to City’s hand now that they miss a handful of players throughout jury.

Huh? To me personally it hardly even counts as a news story. I get people are going to be sad but there are plenty of ways to show respect without further fucking up an already fucked up season.

You are very much in the minority. It’s arguably the biggest news story in decades and will have a major impact on the UK. Football is pretty irrelevant to most people as well. Don’t know whether it will be cancelled or not though
