Russian invasion of Ukraine

You have to wonder when someone high up in the Russian military throws the towel in on ‘the special operation’ and defies Putin. They can’t keep committing troops into Ukraine with the losses they are taking. It’s utter madness ploughing on when they aren’t on the offensive anymore, winter could give them rest bite till the spring but do the Russians have the resources or willingness to fight to pool together the amount of troops and equipment they amassed on the border in February 2022.
If it's not already over by Christmas, there's no way the cunts would be able to stage a second invasion in February. Due to sanctions, they wouldn't be able to amass the same hardware. The will of their troops will be next to broken. And more importantly, Ukraine will be ready, with better hardware and Intel, just waiting for the nonces.

I must admit it’s not a 100% true info but there’s a rumour that yesterday at security council in kremlin one of the slightly drunk general told the **** to fuck off

They can’t keep going on this path though, their army is now on the run. Their country is being isolated with sanctions. Someone needs to come to their senses and put a stop to it, with all their bullshit propaganda they spin to the population they could call it what ever they wanted as a victory and quietly withdraw.

If this conflict comes to an end in the next 12-18 months Ukraine should become a member of NATO to stop this ever happening again. They’ve tried and failed on one country let’s see if they would dare do it to the entire West.

2am report...
The Daily Kos has been a go to source to me for months. In large part due to the absolutely pathetic coverage from the BBC. They may have a separate "news" section but it is as well manned as a Russian trench in Izyum. Today's coverage includes a map from August!
For an institution that is under pressure, they need to wake up and realise the goodwill they had from WWII has been wasted and their output (both TV and news) is boring, repetitive, ""celebrity"" centric and nothing like Lord Reith intended.

Apologies for interrupting Ukraine's glory with my rant.

No problem.
You're right .
If I miss a day or so I go to KOS and a summary of all I have missed is there. Covers ISW stuff and social media posts related to it.
KOS is playing catch up at the moment but the BBC is days behind.

Western offensive going very well but sounds like southern Kherson offensive not so much.

If this report is True it’s to the extent I’m actually wondering if this was just a total a distraction for the western offensive.
Unless the troops in the Kherson region were considered to be "cannon fodder", it's hard to have much belief in a report which has the following statement about the Ukrainians' predicament - "A yawning technology gap with their better equipped adversaries".

To be honest I do agree and If it wasn’t from what is quite a respected source I wouldn’t have posted it.

It is possible Russia sent a lot of there good stuff to Kherson.

Kherson does seem to be a slow chipping away keeping those Russian troops busy tho. Probably to allow what’s going on in the east.

If the UKR strategy is to starve Russian forces there of supply and force them to use their remaining ammo until they collapse, this report is very consistent with that.

Of course, it's brutal and savage for the poor ukr front line during that period, exactly as the report suggests.
