The Conservative Party

I was listening to a guy earlier who was arrested in Norwich when they were reading out the declaration of the new King. He was walking past and just said "who elected him? " and was set upon by security and passed to Police who arrested him. When he challenged them they said he was arrested under the new protest laws but were vague about what and why. He was taken to the station and the struggled to find what they could charge him with and hold him and eventually de-arrested him saying he may yet be called back for interview ( presuming if they can make something vaguely stick ).

The new laws are unworkable and will just lead to lots of appeals and cases against the Police by ( lefty lol ) lawyers because people get wrongfully arrested. Basically it turns out " Patel doesn't like it and needs to appeal to the rabid Right" wasn't a valid basis in law after all.
Did he say it whilst trying to use the suspended bike rack though?

The laws they recently passed seem to be more or less giving the police the power to decide if a protest becomes too noisy or is a threat to public order (whatever that is), but now it seems that they are straying into very dangerous territory when they are allowed to arrest people for their politics - however crudely expressed.
It is of course, just what you expect from this government, to use the police as a political army.

I think there’s a word for that.

and that is doomed to failure

Assuming this guy's recounting is accurate, how can anyone listen to that and be anything other than deeply worried at multiple levels?

Still not in work. Cost of living crisis, war in Europe, inflation through the roof, pound plunging on a daily basis, Brexit benefits not forthcoming, NHS done for, schools falling apart, no coppers to speak of and strikes galore. 8 weeks on a leadership contest, 1 PMQ’s, some vague policy to ‘cap’ energy bills and parliament is due to meet ONCE, next Thursday, before it has another recess until October. Who the fuck is actually running the place because it sure as shit isn’t the government?
And to think, Truss thinks we’re all lazy bastards and Mogg thinks we shouldn’t have holidays! Absolute melts the lot of them.

Be interesting to see what Truss does with the legislation required to put through the energy subsidies. There is little time apparently to enact this before the price cap is removed at the end of this month. With the state funeral further complicating things. She has the option of putting back the party conference season or cancelling it all together this year so that they can fit in the legislation. Will she put back the pointless patting on the back of the conferences to enact the legislation or will she miss the boat with the legislation.

Did you see the comments of shock that John Redwood had said something intelligent yesterday when he advocated doing just that (putting the conference off)?

Your assumption that the Tories will enact anything to help the poorest is naive to say the least ....they propose to help everyone who pays more than £2500 on power and heating helps nobody but those that were paying more than that last year. ....... so if your bill was £7500 ... you get a reduction to £2500 ... if you were paying less than £2500 you get an increase ... Get it yet? .

lol ..... open your eyes and your brain
