Its clearly obviously that Southgate is a million miles from being up to the job. Hes championship level and coaching top prem players.
But … if he was sacked tomorrow who would come in? And not only that who would want it?
Being england manager is a step down for any top level prem coach.

So … do we need a full time coach?

Couldnt , for example, Pep, be asked to take over for the 10/11 international games over a season.
A decent right hand man, all games filmed for scouting purposes, and lets have it right, its bollocks that players are picked on club form, coaches know who they do and dont trust.

So, could it work?

Probably not but can't see many top clubs and their supporters being happy should their coach decide to manage a nation on the side.

Managing a national side isn't what it once was. The best are tested to the limit in European competition and winning multiple domestic trophies and competing in the European Cup is worth far more on the CV than doing well or even winning a European Championship or WC.

I think it could be a really decent step into management for younger, former players like Lampard tbh. If he for example was the England manager and did well, his CV would probably look better than it will do once managing Everton goes sour.

Don't know if international teams need a full time coach but premier league teams sure as hell do. There is not enough time available for them to rest and recuperate as it is.

Neither Pep nor any other top coach has the time available to coach an international team even on a part time basis.

There is a lot outside fa promo shit, I would be happy for him to be in that role and maybe during game week he could maybe take his statutory holidays:-)

The national team needs a full overhaul. The FA are only bothered about revenue so whilst gullible cunts are paying £150 for a Slabhead Engerland shirt cunts like him will still play.

It should be like jury service. Random call ups.

We‘d all rather see Pete the Badge up front than Sir Harold of Kane.

That’d just complicate things.

how ? 2 or 3 coaches, then back to league football, works in other sports with defence and attacking coaches

the other thing is DO we need international pre qualifiers for world cups and euro's
I like the idea of the nation's league's for the euro's and for the world cups we could have world league's

How come no country has a part time national coach? The coach already had coaches to help him when he has the players.

We do need qualifiers unless you want all 210 countries at the World Cup.

The nations league that you are suggesting would be the qualifying tournament, just with a different name.
