Correct all his had in his mind was get Rashid the other end when he should of been thinking an going smash the ball straight back over the Bowlers head! Good learning curve for Dawson that as well he new he made a balls of it because he done the hard work and that ball he didn’t have to hit!
Cricket must be the sport which has the most instances of ‘should have done this that or the other’ than any other sport. Dawson had broken them and by the look of his face on the bench he was well annoyed he’d gone for that shot. I’m sure he was thinking he should have blocked a few, composed himself again and then won the game for us. He’ll learn from it.

This was where Dean was when she should have bowled the ball.

That’s by the by for the point I’m making. If you look at it from head on, as the bowler pulls out of the delivery the umpire starts to do the cross hands thing to indicate a dead ball. It’s touch and go which comes first but you could at least make an argument for him having called the ball dead before she breaks the wicket.

The 5 batting points secures 3rd place beyong doubt. If Hants fail to make 300 and lose, a Lanky win should see 2nd place.
