Yep. If it were a choice between splurging say 60m to entice Reece James from Chelsea or spending 100m + on an unproven lad with a bit of potential who hasn’t demonstrated he has what our midfielders need then clearly anyone sensible buys James.

Yeah he signed a long contract recently. Maybe he’s a Chelsea fan and maybe he’s a one club man like Kane and if he is fair play to him but there aren’t many players in England or even the world who wouldn’t mull over an approach from City very carefully.

The other 2 in the PL that we might look at are Lamptey and Liveramento. Both seem hugely injury prone though.

Former number 10s, generally. Defensive attributes unnecessary. Must be able to play in central midfield.

They should be able to help cover the number 6 role and simultaneously have chalk on their boots from keeping as much width as possible.

Not sure but teams that have them don’t seem to win the league much and some teams with them get relegated, so I think they are best avoided.

The most overrated of them are named after rivers in the East Midlands.

I like that kid Spence at Spurs who was at Forest last season. Can’t slot straight in like James could though.
