I was surprised that he didn’t go to full back though and Gomez move forwards with Akanji swapped sides. He's never going to be a midfielder, priority was to rest key players and he gets experience on the pitch wherever it is, win-win.
We won't know what his chances are of making it here until he fills out, he hasn't developed into a man yet, he needs to have a substantial growth spurt and fill out before he can have a top class career. Fantastic experience for him in the meantime whilst we wait for that to happen, doesn't need to do anything flashy at this stage, just needs to be reliable and he hasn't done anything wrong so far.
So was I, called Bernardo coming off but like you, expected gomes to go into midfield, Lewis right back and everyone shift over in defence.I was surprised that he didn’t go to full back though and Gomez move forwards with Akanji swapped sides.
100% agree. It can only help Rico too. He wasn’t brilliant today, but as a lesson, it was invaluable. So was I, called Bernardo coming off but like you, expected gomes to go into midfield, Lewis right back and everyone shift over in defence.
I'm glad it didn't happen though I think it's important Gomes gets as much time as possible at left back, we've got 2 senior fullbacks and one seems to picking up injuries a lot more often as he ages, he needs to be ready quicker than we probably expect him to be as he's going to be needed this season.
I think it’s a very good sign that Pep plays him so much. Clearly he rates him very highly.
The 5 sub rule is fantastic for our young players. They are gaining so much experience because we are getting on top of other teams so quickly.
Previously I've felt that he was a bit tepid and nervy (understandably so, given his age). Today, he looked a bit more confident and more like the player he actually is.
Like thisHe looks good, but he needs to pass the ball forwards more between the lines.
Injuries set Palmer back.Is interesting he’s getting a fair share of minutes already, almost being fast tracked like foden rather than with Palmer

He won't turn 18 until next month and he's on the pitch with some of the absolute best players in the world. That alone is beyond impressive. When he made 3 Bayern first teamers look like Moe, Larry, and Curly in the Summer I knew this kid can become special. We shall see : )Absolutely. Palmer was offside though.
He generally plays too safe at the moment. As he matures, he’ll get better at the choice of pass. It’ll come.
The rule about scoring 4 goals every game is helping too ;)I think it’s a very good sign that Pep plays him so much. Clearly he rates him very highly.
