The Conservative Party

Mogg has been running around the studios all morning trying to schmooze his way through and deflecting by referring to the Constitution and Erskine May and treating interviewers as if they don't understand what is happening. It's all 'global problems' and the BofE's fault for not raising interest rates in line with the US, it's nothing to do with the Government.

The excrement is about to hit the fan and he and his lot are culpable; in a sense, it's actually rather fitting that he and his chums should be the ones in charge when it sprays.

We're in a mess, I'm fearful for what lies ahead of us, we've got absolute charlatans running ( or not) the country, how have we allowed this to happen, how do totally un qualified idiots control the country, everything they touch turns to shit, my kids and there kids and there kids will be paying for this incompetence for years to come.

I heard the chancellor the other day repeatedly say that they’re giving help on the energy crisis, this was in relation to peoples mortgages going up to levels they couldn’t afford, not one person commented that help with heating is irrelevant if you’ve lost your fucking home.
Absolutely fucking appalling this lot.

That was dire - all 6 questions answered with the energy cap - like a one hit wonder - Chesney Hawkes may as well do it for her next week
Benches are hardly full behind her and the looks on faces are glum, to say the least. Very muted affair and her MPs clearly know that something is worryingly wrong.

I can see a real shitstorm on Friday, this Government will have people rioting on the street before they are through.

As the great Paul Weller once wrote, "Unity is powerful" we deserve better than these incompetent wankers and something needs to change quickly.

Can anyone help on mortgages?
I am on my 1st one, I got a 5 year fixed in March 2020, paying approx £ 650 a month with Nat West.

I get really anxious on stuff but am I right in saying I can't do anything until at least another 2 years when it comes to getting a new deal? Just don't know whether I should be doing anything now, my parents are no longer alive so I'd usually ask good old Dad for some advice. Cheers

Yep, you're fine til 2024, and hopefully things have calmed down a bit by then. I think some let you re-mortgage within 6 months of your current deal expiring if you can find a better (or less bad) rate.

I'm due to remortgage in July, currently paying 2400 a month. Safe to say, I'm not looking forward to it.

Thanks Joe

Truss committed to not cutting spending, going ahead with tax cuts, and (I think) abandoning fracking.

No.10 has since tried to roll back the ‘not cutting public spending’, but ultimately no one is buying what Truss is selling, given what she says is largely word soup.

Govt borrowing costs still rising last time I looked. Govt has no credibility left and everyone knows it.

I’d like to think there are 40 or so Tory MP’s who’d vote to bring this government down, especially as they are supposed to be representatives for their constituents, almost all of whom are worse off today than they were before the budget and, more importantly, will be much much worse off if this carries on for much longer.
Sadly, I think I’m overrating many of them……

I‘m genuinely unsure as to whether enough Tory MPs have a spine. If I have to put money on it, I think there are enough to force a u-turn, with Kwarteng as the chosen sacrifice.

Truss will follow fairly quickly after him. The Govt is pretty much finished no matter what.

I just can't see that happening. For anything remotely similar, I think you would have to go back to 1922 when the Unionists (the then Conservatives) brought down Lloyd George's coalition, but that was ushering in their own power. That said, Truss said no to a General Election today, so on current form, who knows what she'll think tomorrow?
