I ask again: how can people defend VAR in that situation?

VAR is the Video Assistant Referee. The humans are the main element of the system. So you can’t separate the dodgy cunts from the system.

If a system is not consistent (i.e. can return wildly different decisions from similar situations) than it is essentially a human, hence why you can’t separate the current VAR from the dodgy cunts.
