Ah well, another standard (shite) performance at Klanfield - this time accompanied by a Pep brain fart.
No idea what he was attempting to achieve here. Nobidea at all.

Only saw the last half hour but thought we were alright without being at our best. They played very deep relying on the long ball to win the game. My view is that we lost that game rather than them winning it through the mistake by Cancelo, tried to control it instead of just kicking it.
As an aside that Nunez is awful, Nevile and Tyler were ranting over him but twice in the last five minutes he had chances to play the ball through for either a one on one or a tap in but fucked up both times.

I know almost nothing about football, but by God surely you start in-form Grealish in that game.

You also bring on Cole Palmer at 75 mins IMHO, and take Haaland off. He could have played 900 minutes and not scores today. Give them something different to think about.

Kev on his best day is unplayable, this was one of his worst I'm sad to say.

Phil worked his socks off, Bernie is a fucking legend, terrible error for the goal, just terrible, it's a game to forget in almost all respects.

As to VAR? If that's the other way round no way do they even call the ref over. This has always been my problem with it.
If it was the other way around no way the replay of that goal would have gone back ten seconds to find an excuse to disallow the goal

I think it’s more the fact that we don’t have speed b
You need speed to beat them.
You need to play to your strengths to win football matches and we didn't do that today. It's nothing to do with speed, We were poor today especially in the final third. Numerous times we got in behind down the flanks and no end product. The one time we did put a terrific ball in was Foden and not a sinner in the box (apart from Dias) to tap it in.

Them long balls are why we miss the pace of Kyle Walker so much.

Walker is great on the recovery but often these balls were to feet, head. We just needed defenders who could defend properly. Dias was all over the show as well today. Guys form has dropped of a cliff.

Yes it’s a massive disappointment , we feel it those 11 lads will feel-it even more we’ve had these clubs in the past with a mental block , Wigan, Sunderland and the rags … what we’ve overcome and that lot will be another one we’ll do the same to honestly we will.

Fourth time now in five years I’ll see you all in deansgate in may.

And some say Gomez is the player no chance.
Yeah. We should sell him, he'll never amount to anything. We should drop 100m on the shiniest LB out there. FFS

Some here cry like babies when we lose it's so boring and tired. It's a fucking game. If it's more than that to you I hope you're at least on the payroll or live alone.

And that is why we will never win the CL with Pep. Instead of playing to our strengths, he set up to try and contain an opponent that had been on the ropes from the start of the season

They didn’t outplay us but Klopp certainly outsmarted Pep today. I mean that in the sense that his tactical approach paid off and Pep’s didn’t.

Every man and his dog knows that Liverpool play the long ball, fast counter against us. Yet a situation panned out where a long ball put Salah in a one v one position with Cancelo. The whole situation was naive/amateurish play.

In fact, if Liverpool were more clinical they could have put 3 or 4 past us.
What was Pep's approach / plan? I have no idea

Now I have to sit with SWMBO (dipper) and stay polite

Man.. im just so frustrated at KDB. He's the best midfielder in the world he should grab the game by the scruff. In the big games, he has a tendency to fade away a bit. That game against Madrid back in 2020 was good but aside from that I just find him lacking in these tight games. I know people are going to say that he wasn't playing in his normal position but that's not really the reason. He wasn't playing wide, was he? It was Cancelo, Kev was still central albeit a bit further forward but you can't really pin down his position today as the major reason for his performance.

It's a barometer, a test of improvement and resolve - and we failed miserably.
Nah mate...the barometer is the league...38 games. If we win it and by more than a point over the scousers then we have improved and certainly haven't failed. Let's wait til May rather than ficus on a one off game won by a breakaway goal caused by a horrendous one off mistake.

Yeah but he got his tetchy arse sent off and benched for the next 3 games. It's their fucking cup final playing us ! Fuck it, because they are done as a real challenger the game raising cunts lol
