The Tories have spent 8 years flirting with that type of voter so it can’t be a shock that they’re not keen on their new leader. I’d imagine many would often start a sentence with; “I’m not a racist but…..”. Mind you, many wouldn’t bother either!!

Just out of interest, why would you rely on dividends instead of just paying yourself a higher salary. Is there some benefit to that?

I can answer that :)

Yes, you don't pay NI on dividends. I did similar, £800/month salary and the rest as divi's. Also employ Mrs Flook as admin and as a share holder, she also was paid largely in dividends. Come the furlough I was fortunate enough to be able to continue to work so didn't have to rely on any support, If we had been furloughed we could have got by but would have had to raid the savings.

I understand the frustration at lack of support for people in this position, but I also understand the government position. The dividend route is something they have been trying to close for years through IR35 legislation, with little success. There is no way they would further legitimise that payment model by supporting it through furlough.

Note, I said I understand their position, not that I agreed with it (before I get pelters)

This is a very good post and extends the misunderstanding too that paying less tax legally is different to paying less or even no tax illegally. Almost everyone with a brain and any sense will aim to reduce their tax bill within the bounds of what's legal. The reason why is why wouldn't you?

How many people have a salary sacrifice car or participate in their cycle to work scheme or have healthcare benefits at work? In fact how many people have a pension? If you have any of these things then well done you're a dirty tax dodger.

Some of the self-righteous on here need to ask themselves why aren't you paying all of your excess income as voluntary contributions? I can guarantee that none of you are because everyone wants to keep as much of their money for themselves.

You win today's whataboutism trophy.

People say lots of things about me, but lacking charisma isn’t one of them!

In fact @Ducado once told me said I was the most charismatic man he’d ever met!

Commercial barristers are boring cunts, though. Rich, boring cunts.
Well, given it was @Ducado that said it, that’s a fairly low bar…

There was some opinion article in the mail the other day that Sunak gaining power is a lefty plot brought together by Hunt, Starmer and Sunak to get the U.K. back in the EU. Bloody hell ‘the will of the people’ and ‘taking back control’ and all that.

Just got up and seen who the new PM is. Of course it's nothing to do with me as I don't live there but how can Brits be happy with having a PM who basically tried to cheat financially with his wife. Claiming Non-Dom status ?
Even if he was the best candidate.
May have been the best candidate for party leader, but best candidate for PM surely lies on the other side of a GE at this stage.
Still as you say.
Nothing to do with me either.

These boneheads who bang on about globalists, the New World Order, the World Economic Forum, etc. are seriously unhinged. All the same noises Trump supporters make. Just a bunch of far right nutters making up shit.
