More seriously, it's the same old issue in reverse. Did they need us more than we need them? No, because 44% of our trade was with the EU, but for each EU country, their trade with us was a fraction of their total trade. How much economic benefit would they get from making it easier to import our goods? Brexit has all but destroyed our car manufacturing industry which had been growing to best-ever levels, our leaving has helped their growth and retarded ours - why would they want to stop that? And I see no way they'd want us back as members, sending Farage and other fascists back as MEPs, and generally throwing cold water on the European Parliament and any "ever closer" political moves.

Essentially, we come back to the EU as losers, asking nicely if we can play with their ball again, and somehow get access to the single market, and back in the Customs Union.

I know it wasn’t. Hence my suggestion of voting for a party that has a social conscience and a realistic view of why a healthy trading relationship with Europe is good for us. For anyone unwilling to move to Scotland you always have the Lib Dems or the Greens :-)

Well it all depends upon your reasons for so voting and whether that was based on campaign information (tempted to put that word in inverted commas) that you were given. If it was, for instance the bullshit slogan on the bus about the NHS, then you have a right to feel aggrieved.
