Phone lights during match

They were well too busy last night getting up and eating and drinking, that's up to them mind they bought a ticket.

On a CL night it's hard to stay seated you are up and down like a nuns knickers.
Certainly a different vibe. Loads of people round me with half and half scarves with the Norwegian flag on.

comments on here irritate more than the lights

fans getting involved in the game, joining in, young people having a good time, then their are lots of older people joining in. Yet we have fans giving them stick for it ! Why ?

the older fans and the fans to cool might not like it, but we need younger generations coming through. They are getting involved in the game.

On UCL nights towards the end of the game would 10,000 mobile lights and 10,000 scarves held up to bluemoon not look good ?

I think it would and im a mad keen singer that loves to see smoke bombs and good atmosphere.

Keep the lights going at UCL games, ignore the killjoys

Am I missing summat or was there a lot of mobile phone lights going on at about 70 minutes tonight , I’m sure it’s happened in other CL games this season . There was loads a few years ago when we played Celtic at home , think it was Celtic fans in the City seats at 67 minutes to reference the EC win in 1967 , anyone know why there was any tonight?
It was to commemorate Mrs Ewing's birthday on Hallowe'en!

We had smoke 'n fire at the Women v Dippers. The flames were quite welcome and very warming. The blue smoke wafted over to Asda very quickly. I think inside the Etihad it settles and with little draught it hangs around. Reminds me of many a game from Novermber to February at Maine Road when a smog descended.

That smog was pipe smoke Dave. From upside down pipes on rainy days.

I don't get it
Worlds best team playing and people pissing around with lights on phones, why not watch the game instead?

It started when Celtic had hundreds in our home ends and they got their phones out on 67 minutes and they took a break from chanting about the IRA for one minute to sing about the Lisbon Lions and wave their phone might about.

Ever since that night loads of our fans have weirdly started doing this at night games. Weirdly around the 67 minute mark.

Put you fucking phones away, you’re at a football match for fuck’s sake (and that goes for all the sad twats who spend all game filming themselves or texting their mates pictures every five minutes).

I thought the 70mins was for Queen Elizabeth's reign. I don't really care to be honest. People complaining about it though is somewhat ironic, can't please everyone :)

People complain about empty seats but then when we fill the seats with tourists who contribute to the atmosphere, gate, etc, people complain they don't conform to their own expectations.

People complain about the lack of atmosphere greeting the players, club puts on a light show and dj to help improve this, people complain.

Practically the smoke can be a bit much when there is no wind but hey it is all adding to the atmosphere.

I do agree, having someone behind you constantly berating a player is extremely irritating, go and sit in the away end. Absolutely no issues with people discussing a players performance or if they are suited to that position but there are those that just come and start shouting constant profanities at our own players for no real reason other than because they think they can manage the team better than Pep.

They think they are at a Britney Spears concert bless 'em.
Who cares?

The tourists and alike bring millions into the club and in doing so contribute to our success.

The more new fans we bring in the better and hopefully once the ground is further increased in capacity we will have even more attending.

The "New fans" will fuck off when the next best thing comes along, it's the fans who have always been there that come first. How many first time and last time fans go to CL matches?

When all the glitz dies down it's the hardcore bovril and lifelong fans the club will rely on again. People seem to think we never had any fans before the sheik rolled up and bankrolled us.

Some will "fuck off" when the trophies dry up but as long as the club has emptied their pockets so what?

And if a small percentage become life long fans, which they will, brilliant..

It's not all about the money, we have always had fans and we don't have to empty pockets by putting on a circus performance. Football is going through a growth spurt specially for us, but IMHO it's on its way to dying it's been saturated.

Well the club seem to think differently with an impeding announcement on expansion.

Building bigger and better stadia isn't an indicator of a healthy sport, just because a few clubs rake it in doesn't mean that they all are. Football has become a circus, a political tool it has lost the feeling of where its roots were/are.

Our grass roots clubs are really struggling, many foreign leagues are struggling and it's mainly do to greed, there's way to much football on TV and it's far too happy bloody clappy for my liking. We as a club have had our good times before and we have had our bad times but what we have never had is such a conflict of interest between fans.

You've got the old guard trying to drum up an atmosphere by traditionally singing and making a noise and you have got the new lot holding their phone in the air with a hot dog hanging out of their mouths.
