Unfortunately the article is behind a paywall. Can anyone speculate why the headline could possibly be true?

Whilst Covid and Ukraine are the excuses that the government likes to use, we all know that those issues affect everyone, and should be affecting those more dependent on Russian energy to a larger extent than it affects us but somehow Germany and Italy are doing better than us in spite of their reliance on Russian gas. Where are we going wrong?

Imagine dedicating your whole political career to one core belief and it collapses instantly on contact with reality and damages 99.9% of the country immeasurably for decades. That defines you forever as a fucking moron, but I bet not a single one of them feels any guilt. People like this don't, they Yebbut their way to unaccountability.

Before the referendum the UK economy was 90% the size of Germany's, now it is less than 70%. That's because they have far fewer fools as a proportion of the population.

This is actually because the £ has fallen in value relative to the €, not because Germany's economy has outperformed the UK's.

Anyway, Brexit still a shitshow.

Bit of each actually and both in no small part due to Brexit.
Germany have had the added problem of their dependency on Russian gas and they're still doing better than us.

An anonymous senior member of the ERG told LBC’s Political Editor Theo Usherwood that they would go “completely and utterly berserk” if there were any move towards a Swiss-style arrangement. “For many of us, it’s the defining issue of why we are in politics,” they added.

Goes a long way to explain how it’s now just a cult.

Same for Tory voters that will vote for them next election

I think I'm either having a migraine - twinkly lights, etc, - or it's the light at the end of the Brexit tunnel. The DT this morning relays news that Danish Crown, purveyors of quality tinned meat (Spam), seem generally pissed off with the Brussels generated paper juggernaut set up by Emperor Macron and his acolytes and are planning a multi-hundred million factory in Rochdale to produce ham and pork, which I understand as Spam. Those endowed with fine culinary skills will no doubt have a couple of tins in the kitchen - check the verbiage on the side of the tin - Danish Crown Litd.

All we need now is a bakery to produce nowt but muffins, a wee cafe at the side selling nowt but bacon muffins and coffee. It's a fuckin' bike ride to Paradise guys.

True - but its not a majority. Brexit was backed because of the onslaught of lies and populist BS.

The reality is very unpopular. Tories almost resigned to defeat but Labour to scared to open the Brexit box and just avoiding the problem.

Indeed, I will vote Labour but fear that they will not carry out what is necessary to re-enter the EU.

Whilst there is clearly no other option than to vote Labour for me, I do have concerns about how they will go about running certain things and whether their policies have any real backbone .

Spam and Branson pickle sandwiches with crisps and a fizzy drink as a young nipper at Lancs CC, school summer hols with a couple of mates. And without grown ups and the thrill of the busses. Fantastic memories when Lancs would be bursting at the seams.

Same, but maybe 2 party conferences before a GE. Labour members can force a change of approach and I think between now and a GE Labour will be forced to be much more pro EU. Maybe even backing joining the SM.

Tories have nothing good to say on the subject but the whispers of change are there.
