It’s reassuring to know somethings never seem to change. I remember listening to the third round draw on a little transistor radio in the back of the school classroom on a Monday afternoon and we always seemed to be number 23 back then.
Semi final draw 1981, I worked in a Ford main dealer garage in the parts dept.
The place had wonderful radio 1 piping through speakers all day so me and this lad jumped into the back of a Ford Transit van that our elderly delivery driver used to run around in, with radio 2 on.
The boss and some other big wig come out of the building and stand next to the van talking business for what seemed like ages.... we could hear the tannoy calling for the lad I was in the van with to go to reception as a customer was waiting but we stayed silent, laying low in the back of the transit until finally the bosses pissed off!
We went inside to questions as to where the fuck we'd been for 15 mins......
My.mate quick as a flash said we'd been shagging in the back of a transit van..... to much laughter and the subject was dropped.

My preferences based on whether I've seen City at their grounds or seen the teams at Maine Road or The Etihad.

Coventry City - Not seen at new current ground or the Etihad
Luton Town - Not seen at the Etihad
Millwall - Not seen at the Etihad, but don't really want them wrecking the place
Preston North End - Not seen at the Etihad
Rotherham United - Not seen at their new ground
Cambridge United or Grimsby Town - Not seen either at the Etihad, not seen City at Cambridge.
Wrexham or Farnborough - Not seen Wrexham at the Etihad, not bothered about Farnborough as they are non-league.
Accrington Stanley or Barnet - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds.
Ebbsfleet United or Fleetwood Town - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds. Less bothered about Ebbsfleet as they are non-league.
Ipswich Town or Buxton - Don't think I've seen Ipswich at the Etihad. Would be great financially for Buxton if they got through.
Barnsley or Crewe Alexandra - Not seen Crewe at the Etihad.
Forest Green Rovers or Alvechurch - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds. Less bothered about Alvechurch as they are non-league.
Portsmouth or Milton Keynes Dons - Not seen MKD home or away.
Shrewsbury Town or Peterborough United - Not seen either at the Etihad, and only saw City at Shrews new ground in a friendly.
Hartlepool United or Harrogate Town - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds.
King’s Lynn Town or Stevenage - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds. Less bothered about King's Lynn as they are non-league.
Charlton Athletic or Stockport County - Not seen Snackpot at the Etihad.
Bristol Rovers or Boreham Wood - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at Boreham Wood. Less bothered about Boreham Wood as they are non-league.
Dagenham & Redbridge or Gillingham - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at Dag 'n' Rag. Only interested in them as a former league club.
Oxford United or Exeter City - Not seen either at the Etihad and not seen City at either of their grounds.
Sheffield Wednesday or Mansfield Town - Not seen Mansfield at the Etihad and the only time I saw City at Field Mill was for a friendly.
AFC Wimbledon or Chesterfield - Not seen City at AFCW or Chesterfield's new ground, not seen either at The Etihad.
Burton Albion or Chippenham Town - Not seen Chippenham home or away.
Walsall or Carlisle United - Not seen either at The Etihad.
Newport County or Derby County - Not seen Newport at The Etihad.

The same time as Portugal vs Uruguay in the WC? Great planning if so.
Very poor planning. Draw should have been put back to the middle of the following week when there’s a couple of days without any WC action. That would still leave more than four weeks until the third round is scheduled to be played.
FA is too set in its ways. No need to have the draw on the Monday immediately following the second round this year due to the exceptional circumstances.
