Has anyone else read Stuart Pearces comments on Southgate and Foden.
If you have, could you translate them for me, not one utterance can I make sense of.
It is comedial in a sad way.
You’re better off just ignoring him altogether.
Remember this is a guy that subbed on a goal keeper to play up front.
If he’s the expert we really are in trouble.

I don’t agree mate. As the manager he has played a huge part in us getting to the later stages, creating a team, rather then a group of individuals. We are miles better then we were a few years ago.

I also don’t agree with the your point about talent. In my opinion we’ve had much stronger sides, with better individuals. The 96 side and the 2004 side in particular - the failed generation. I think we have lots of overhyped individuals, with a couple of top talents.

We can’t help who we play either. We’ve had so called east games in the past and always lost or struggled.

I agree with your points about style of play/ negativity, but hopefully we can go far. I’ll take the boring football if we win a trophy

Football is about opinions.

Among many he thought Mount played in the front 3 and Rashford would offer more defensively than Foden as a direct replacement for Sako.

There were others .

The bottom line is what top club in England would employ Southgate as their manager? Not one is the answer. Yet here he is in the top job in the country managing the England side. He got the job by default due to Allardyce being his usual shady greedy self. He has some of the best talent at his disposal and I'll say it again, any success if we get any will be in spite of him and not because of him. We're in yet another easy group, Wales, USA and Iran and are stuttering through it. Our football is turgid, negative and fearful. He has no plan B and if we go behind his whole gameplan is fucked because we're relying on defending, set pieces and hope. He's a typical safe FA appointment. Politically correct, bland, boring, never going to rock the boat. I hope he takes his waistcoat and fucks off back to Middlesbrough where he belongs.
That’s unfair on Boro

There is no pattern of play. Nigh on every time Grealish received the ball, he’d look up, no option and have to buy the foul or the throw in.
Yep, saw that all night. First half a bit of success.down the right for Saka, then nothing of note. No patterns, structure.

When the defence had the ball, repeatedly found myself wondering where the hell the rest of the team were as even the midfielders were out of shot.

And when the ball was played or pumped up front, it was as if there was no-one there anyway as we simply couldn't retain possession for toffee.

BBC going with the narrative England weren't terrible, give USA praise for playing well.

Just fuck off
Don’t hold your breath. It’s highly likely he’ll keep the same team of little favourites who have stunk the place out since the start of the season. If waistcoat had anything about him Mount would have been hooked at halftime despite not warranting a starting spot.Anyone would think waistcoat hadn’t been to a premier league game this season

Watching the official England videos & you can see a proper click. Jack & Phil are never seen with the Sterling, Mount, Rice & Gallagher lot.

Summer's were great, winter was terrible
I love the seasons, winters seemed colder and summers hotter and to go on forever. I remember being a kid in Hulme popping pitch bubbles in the road and in winter those pea soup fogs where you literally couldn't see in front of your nose. We had to wear smog masks, as kids we loved it but in reality it was all the shit being pumped out of factories etcetera.

I agree. I’d rate Kane, Foden and Stones as top class players, and Bellingham is obviously a talent. Beyond that we’ve got a group of good-but-not-great players, and are pretty weak in a few areas. Previous squads have had far more quality.

I agree, although I would say Saka can be added to the obvious talent group (plus I rate Rice, not as good as the hype but a very good player).

This will get me stick but I also think Alexander Arnold is a great talent and delivery with long through balls is fantastic. I also think the back 5 which no doubt Southgate will go back to at some point (possibly when Walker is back) would help in covering some of his weaknesses.

Overall with Pickford, Shaw, Trippier, Maguire, Mount and Sterling all starting, we’re a lot less in quality then some of the other teams.

Anyone who watched the Wales vs USA game will know the USA struggled 2nd half when Wales pressed them high as a unit, the yanks struggled to play through the press and kept giving the ball away.

I expected England to really press USA, and what followed was possibly the worst example of how to press as a team I have seen in a long time. Everyone yards off their opposite number, giving time and space to do as they liked.

I can only think that the players were playing to instructions because the manager at no point did anything to change it. Its fucking mind boggling how inept he is from the touchline, bringing Henderson on as first sub says it all, he's clueless.

We hardly pressed at all. I remember the commentator saying Sterling was looking to the bench as he wasn't sure what to do. Southgate did what he always does, played it slow, pedestrian and cautious, grinding out a result. We get out of the group and get to the semi finals or better of course it will be forgotten but by God was it grim. Players playing at half throttle and our most creative players warming the bench.
