Old Maine Road photos thread

Remember when Spurs came in late?
I remember that . Police had allowed city fans in the away section . Obviously unaware that Spurs fans had travelled up . Until around 500 of them burst in at the top of the Kippax ! We always stood above the tunnel next to the away fans back in those days

Dibble trying to get portable barriers between us …. Mayhem all game and a great result against the cunts

Anybody got any photos of the old scoreboard end when it was still uncovered? I was just in time for that.
Am I imagining this, or did a bloke go round hanging up the half-time scores on those square metal plates from pegs, before the whole of that end was roofed and the electronic board was introduced?

...and The Gardener's Arms. Would see Mike Pickering, Kevin Cummins and the much missed Rob Gretton (New Order's manager for the uninitiated) in there for every home game.
It was my local too. The none famous Gallagher brother, the band Doves along with other faces on the music scene were all regulars.

Rob died just before the gillingham game. He never saw the rennaisance

What you cant see are the two tunnels near the back of the platt lane stand, we used to sit behind one when we were kids, there were also two sets of steel steps which were long and steep, you can see the opening at the back for one set. Also the big tunnel you can see in the corner, as you walked out towards the back there were another set of steps but built inside the ground which took you up to the back corner of the stand, that was another place we liked to sit. There were toilets also next to the steps in the corner. Spent a lot of time in the Platt Lane as a Kid, along with the Scoreboard end.
Me and my dad used to sit right near the top of the corner, by the fence looking down on the main part of the platt lane, when the rebuilt platt lane stand opened I took my own young kids in the family stand as close as possible to that on the spot on the corner
