I dont get this anti football, you play to the teams strengths, I think we have slipped into the trap of if a team don't play 40 passes before a goal then its shit, if a team dare to play long balls then it's shit, you win a game by playing to your strengths

It was nearly 20 years ago, long before we were accustomed to seeing 40 passes per game, never mind 40 per goal.

I agree. It used to be that the spearhead of a team was so important and it now seems not so. You look at the teams in the WC, other than Poland, who has a true out and out striker who can finish? Bluemooners will tell me, but off the top of my head I can’t think of one other than Lewandowski and he’s passed his prime now.
