Unpopular opinions

Qatar 2022 was one of the safest World Cups ever, with the lowest level of hooliganism, violence and alcoholism
It had the least number of arrests and some of the best behaved fans of all time
The conclusion is that gay people should be banned from attending football matches as they must be the ones causing all the trouble

In the interest of full disclosure, I believe John Terry to be a ****, and Kun Aguero to be a footballing God
Wayne Bridge likes this post!
As for me, short of shitting in the centre circle, Kun can do no wrong.
I don't think it bothered any of the Argentinian players, (him being on the pitch) did it?

Ukraine war, instead of sending weapons the UK should be working with our European allies to get all parties around the table, war is helping no one apart from arms sellers.
It’s not a war, it’s an invasion. Ukraine is merely defending itself, they aren’t attacking Russia or Russian soil.

Russia has been given invites to many conferences for decades and other olive branches to get them into a closer relationship with us… Russia declined to show up to them time-and-time again. NATO even tabled the idea to Russia that they could possibly join NATO about fifteen years ago. The only thing Russia has done in that time has become more hostile.

Russia has no ambition to work with us. They have continually lied about what they want and what they’re going to do. They are a rogue state. It’s a worry to think about how many Ukrainian citizens they will have genocidally killed once this is all over.

If we could even get Putin round a table (he’s become a paranoid recluse), it’s as likely he’d send the biggest bombardment of rockets hitting Kyiv whilst the meeting is taking place as it is to get him round the table in the first place.

Nope, worst thing that could happen. There is nothing to negotiate over, at all. Round tables are about negotiating and reaching common ground. There is none. Putin invaded a sovereign country, there is nothing to cede or negotiate about, the borders and regions are not his. Are you of a contrary view to this?

Yep 100% it’s a fucking disaster. GDP down by £100B a year, worst performing economy in the G20, rotting fish, rotting fruit and veg because we have no one to pick them. Thousands of businesses forced to relocate go bust or stop selling to Europe because of Brexit red tape, huge queues getting into European locations for tourists, food up by 6% a direct result of Brexit. I will dig out the FTs damning report on Brexit. Oh and of course handing complete cunts like Johnson and Rees Mogg power. Etc etc
Get the non violent idle hours out of jail to pick the fruit and veg etc.
This would benefit society, give them an idea of responsibility and probably help them get a job when released.

Bill I fucked up and caught Covid whilst in your beautiful country. It meant my visa ran out before I could go home. It ran out out Thursday. I was not allowed by the rules to apply for a bridging visa until Friday morning.
My new flight was Sunday. Without a visa I would not have been allowed to board the plane and leave.
My bridging visa arrived via e mail 3 and a half hours after I applied for it.
There is absolutely no way that would have happened in the UK.
Brexit didnt fuck anything up. This country is fundamentally broken, it was broken long before Brexit. It does not function as a country, it has no desire to do so.
Nothing works, the NHS, the Border Agency, the judicial system, none worked before Brexit so why would leaving the e.u. change anything.
Your adopted country seems organised and designed (despite being modeled on the uk) to function.

Sorry for being misinformed I heard it on news that there were 50000posts unfilled that was from the head of the nurses union , Cullen her name was.

To be honest I also heard the rags have a definitive transfer policy for January so I shouldn’t believe everything I hear :-)

TBH I don’t know what they don’t pull them up on this when it’s so easily provable it’s not true. I think of you count all the roles and count if they will take full time or part time then you’re doubling the numbers which gets you close to the 50k but it’s the same job. They’d probably argue if you get 1 person in part time you’ll need to get another so it’s 2 people (or more) for 1 job but that’s being a bit disingenuous. We know the NHS is in a pickle, we don’t need to over egg the pudding

Australia is all the poorer now you have left the building Misty !

There aren’t 50,000 vacancies.

29,500 in total of which if you type nurse into the search section you get about 5,500 nursing roles open.
Not necessarily the most reliable way of measuring it. If you needed to hire 10 of the same type of nurse in a hospital, would you put out 10 adverts? Or would you put out one advert and hope that you get 10 suitable applicants?

Most classic albums have about four good songs and the rest is filler. And music wasn't better when you were young, you were just young, so it meant more to you.

Indeed, I don't think there's a one to one relationship between ad and vacancy.

NHS Digital issued a report in Sept 21 suggesting there was about 37,000 nursing vacancies. I think that included those that had been advertised but might have had temporary staff working in them. Not sure what the methodology was.

I think the short answer is the aggregate figure isn't actually known. What I do know is when I spent significant chunks of time with people on two different wards at Wythenshawe hospital this year stretched thin would be an understatement when it came to the nursing staff.
