Just read that...Gutted...FAF. I used to buy the daily mirror on a saturday just to read his column. His telly progs were ace.His shows on Radio 1 in the 90s were great

Wow. That’s a shock. Loved his work and Funny Old World is consistently one of the best parts of Private Eye. I must be getting old, mind. I wouldn’t have guessed he was 65.His shows on Radio 1 in the 90s were great

I hit the big 70 last week, I think my UK driving license ran out.
I remember one show he did when he phoned Vatican Radio and wanted to be a DJ on it. The jingles he played were hysterical.
Ran out ! Hobbled more like it.

Not massively famous but if any of you have seen people like James May going aloft in a 2 seater Spitfire this lady would have been the pilot. Such a tame way to bow out really when you consider the time she spent flying Spits.
