Unpopular opinions

In the long run, Brexit will prove to have been a master stroke.
This country is in a hell of a mess and the majority of people who voted for brexit seem to think we still are some world power house.

We are a farty little country on a little island and by the day are losing all influence and respect we once had the world over.

Brexit sums up this country.

I have, I stated that financially the UK is doing well GDP wise and unemployment is at record lows. In response to someone who wrongly stated that the GDP had reduced by 100billion since Brexit.

I did also say that if I'd had the vote as a British citizen I'd probably have voted remain. But people like me were not allowed a vote. (which is fair enough)
Not sure where you are getting your figures on the UK GDP, but latest results show a further fall https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64062548

Read a really interesting article on the internet from the telegraph a couple of days ago. It was about Britain's negligible influence in Africa and how it has been systematically diminished over the last 12 years.....

Basically since May danced awkwardly in South Africa a few years ago, no British PM has been to any African country, cop 24 in Egypt notwithstanding. Truss as both foreign secretary and PM had no interest, Rishi will slash development funding.

Africa on the list of priorities is probably around 50th highest, for France it's probably 3rd. The US, Russia, China and France have huge clout both for future markets and resources. The British diplomatic presence is being slashed in Africa and with it, any influence we may have had.

Totally agree and the same thing is happening all over the world, this country is done as a major nation and the sooner people accept that the better.

No idea. This thread is for unpopular opinions.
You must have some sort of reasoning for your opinion though? Surely you're not just blindly saying it because the Tory party have told you it's the case?

on the few occasions I’ve been in a hospital there is invariably a nursing station on the ward with quite a few nurses sat and stood around. Many appear to be chatting, very few seem to be doing much. I could be completely wrong but this is every time I’ve been.

They chose, all right -swyed by the garbage peddled by clowns like Farage and Johnson, with their catchy soundbites and non-stop appearances on the media.

Just shows how dangerous it is to give a vote to the ill-informed and the unthinking masses
The brexit experience is not going well. People, voters, were warned, alas, to no avail.
On such an important issue, people should have been made fully aware of the benefits and drawbacks of leaving. This did not happen.
So we are stuck with the current situation for the foreseeable.
The situation being, flying blind into a hurricane with a scruffy piece of paper bearing the legend, 'get on with it!!)

Aye they’re a right lazy bunch are nurses. Good spot.

Homeless people can be ungrateful

Gave the guy some change, always do when i go to tesco , brought him a double sandwich , he pulled a face and said i dont like them , he wanted me to go get him a different one , i did not

Every adult in the country could pass this test, many of them just need to research politics for the first time in their lives. It would make voters more clued up and would probably mean the Conservatives wouldn’t have won any of the last four GEs and the Britain EU Referendum would have been a Remain vote.
Should politics be included in the school curriculum as a matter of course?

Nurses are no better than any other job.
Some great, some poor but most are inbetween.
Always amazed me how much chocolates they go through in a day.
Always seemed to be a box doing the rounds when ever I visited.

Yet if you say anything negative about them you’re worse than Hitler. Some people think they are beyond criticism. They’re not.

Not sure they’re all like that however I went to Stepping Hill to get some meds for the missus and the hunt to find them ended up involving about 7 nurses who were near the ward reception desk

This is true. It is probably because they want money for alcohol or drugs instead. Most have some form of addiction or dependency.

I did the same as you, went in a couple of shops (poundland and home bargains, it both within touch distance) bought drinks, sandwich anti bac handwash (it was cheap and summer 2022, thought might as well give him something to wash his hands if he is on the street all day).

Deliberately picked out a sandwich I thought he was more likely to eat (chicked salad).

Gave it all to him and thank you I got didn't seem to be genuinely pleased.

It’s not important if they are grateful though, your small act of genuine kindness is what counts. If they throw it in the bin, or swap it for change, it's their choice to make.
