Carabao Cup QF Draw | Southampton (A)

Tbf City failing to win 7 matches against one club even in 24 matches is probably rare & could lead to that team being considered a bit of a bogey team. Other than Liverpool I doubt many teams have stopped us winning 7 times in 24.

I don't consider them a bogey team myself though.
In our last 30 games against Boro, our record is:

P30 W7 D7 L16 F27 A43

Middlesbrough is completely different & nearly all of those matches were before the takeover, they have been in the Premier League twice since the takeover with one of them seasons being the first I think. Most teams will have records like that against City if we are including before the takeover.

The last 30 games against Boro takes us back before the Premier league even existed.

If its stats you want, our all-time record v Boro is : W51 D29 L49.
Not brilliant, but not as bad as v Liverppol: W51 D50 L93
Or Utd: W56 D50 L71
Or Arsenal: W49 D40 L85
Even v Spurs W65 D36 L65

But...
v Norwich W39 D23 L10
Or v Watford: W22 D5 L6

Cannot believe the 2 chosen TV games ?
Was certain that the Trafford Termites against Charlton Athletic would have been selected.
When was the last MUFC cup tie of any competition, that was not televised ?
Has the tide turned in choosing the City and Newcastle matches ?
Wait for the abusive "sportswatching" take-over complaints in the Media...
Agreed, surprised at that too, tbh

Norwich and Plymouth would have been my picks without checking stats for favoured opponents, just as Mike Reed was the best ref to have.

Most losses before I was born I reckon :)
The last loss to Argyle was Jan 88 in old Div Two - we lost 3-2 and Neil McNab & Paul Stewart were our scorers.
Before that mainly in mid-60s in Div Two, just one in 1938-39

Anything else you want to know?

To be honest 11 v 11 is where I'd go if I wanted to know.

Did anybody on Bluemoon take the plane to Southampton on Boxing Day some years back? Be good to get another one sorted for this fixture.

Yes I did - it was a rocky flight. Went with my brother and it put him off flying for a few years after that.

Sometimes the short flights on smaller planes can be the worst can’t they?
I recall an awful Liverpool - Dublin and back a few years ago (or maybe that was just all the united fans coming over for a match on the return flight), but jeez it was bumpy, and virtually no time for cruising at altitude.
