I'm not surprised that the majority say Phoenix Nights but it's The Office for me.

There's a bit of David Brent in all of us at some point, in some situations.

His cringeworthy awkwardness that sometimes spills over into cuntishness is genius and made for a great show.
I voted PN but I liked the office as well.

Phoenix Nights, but in all honesty I have struggled to watch the other one. Phoenix Nights reminds me of a lot like Early Doors, you often have to watch the episodes again as you miss the subtle little references - like Jeremy Beadles hands on the clock behind the bar

I always thought Early Doors was better than the Royle family, even though I like the Royle family. Extremely underrated I think, and I’m surprised how many people haven’t seen it.

The only thing I didn’t like about Royle family was it got progressively more stupid and less realistic, especially the one-off specials they did later on. they turned Dave into some weird idiot, instead of the dim but fairly normal bloke he was at the very start.
Roger my arse.

The Office is the only Gervais TV I have not liked..
Tried to get into it a few times with no success.
That silly dance scene I cringe every time it comes on.
One of the most overrated comedy clips ever.

Both amazing comedies but both coming from different angles so are different in comedy styles. both are epic and I honestly couldn't say if one was better or not due to the style difference.

The Office was decent but it relied on that 'looking at the camera' thing, which was just a gimmick - and not a particularly innovative one, if you know Eric Morecambe. It also pushed the 'cringe' factor too far. Phoenix Nights had a far better range of characters, the actors really excelled and could add their own individuality to them, whereas in The Office they're all doing pretty much the same thing. Once you get past Gervais & Freeman the rest are just rotated around to make the joke, except Ralph Ineson who was fantastic as the salesman - and as someone who worked in that industry, I can say he was spot on.

There really is no comparison as to which is the best.
