United (A) | Post Match Thread

Rashford being there in offside position caused confusion and hesitation in our defenders, he’s interfering with play, I don’t know the letter of the law and if they’ve removed “ interfering with play “ I’ve not heard about it

That is just an annoying thing that happened today though and cost us but no point moaning about that there’s much bigger issues with us right now
Most worrying time during Pep

Rule should be that if you're offside and within 2 yards of the ball in the same phase then it's offside - obviously it affected our players' decision making as they all slowed down thereby allowing Fernandes to zoom onto it to shoot and score.
Indeed.

The defenders were trying to anticipate what Rashford was going to do so he was clearly interfering with the play. It's obvious but not so obvious to the officials who've probably never kicked a ball in their lives.

Dominated them with a single shot on target.
They didn't produce any danger at all. We were dominating the match. Or the only way to dominate is to score goals? The match could have laste 500 min and the wqy SH was playing out, we would be in zero danger

We were shite tonight but the referee was a joke.

We should have had AT LEAST 2 penalties and their first goal should never have stood.
We could have had 4.

If their first one doesn't go in then the second off the back of it never happens.

Bunch of cheats. The FA and PGMOL want Arse to win the league and they will probably get their wish.

Professional performance? We were terrible after scoring! 15 minutes of giving the ball away and United growing into the game. They were looking more and more dangerous as the game went on despite us being 0-1 up.

We kept trying to force passes and go for 0-2 but the passes were shit. We should have slowed the game down, Gundogan should have come on to gain some composure in midfield.
We definitely watched a different match after our goal.

We started to take control after it and United were struggling to do anything with the ball even when we gave it away.

We continually won it back and had them camped out in their half for most of the minutes between when we score and their offside goal was given.

Once the match is posted in full, I would watch back that period to see what I mean. I think you’ll see the same.

If Rashford was not there in an offside position that chance would never have come about.

He wasn't just there but he also prevented City players from playing the ball, he was involved with play and he definitely influenced the outcome of the move.

Disgraceful refereeing and officiating, whether he touched the ball was irrelevant, he ran with it and shielded it for about 10 meters.

It will be interesting to see how many ex officials and players and other pundits stand by it.

Players like Mike Doyle, Franny Lee, Mike Summerbee, Denis Law, and Colin Bell would have not recognised that fiasco of a game as a Manchester derby. It just shows how pathetic the contemporary game has become now.

I’ve just watched the replay of their first goal and (I know this is unpopular view) as far as I am concerned there was nothing wrong with. Rashford didn’t ”interfer”. The two City defenders closest to the ball didnt stop or noticeably slow down as others on here have suggested.
It’s unpopular because it’s an incorrect understanding of the rules.
