United (A) | Post Match Thread

Also Akanji just said he played Rashford offside, so from that point onwards when Rashford moved towards the ball Rashford was interfering with the play. Akanji was disadvantaged because of playing him offside.
This is where is stinks. I dont know anyone that plays/played football at any kind of level, who thinks that should be a fair outcome. Akanji has defended well, caught rashford perfectly in the trap and somehow its been allowed to stand despite rashford clearly impacting the outcome because he is interfering!!

You might want to check your CO2 monitor there fella.
I thought we were pretty poor first half, we could barely string a couple passes together and they were pulling out right defence all over for counter attacks. Dominated before we scored second half but didn't look likely after their (cheated) equaliser

Just been allowed out of the ground, cunts

Were letting City fans go down to the bogs one at a time cunts

Keeping us in the coach park now cunts

Letting the rags get away with bookings from minute 1 cunts

Allowing an offside goal (or do I’m told) cunts

Spreading his arms every time we were fouled, ****

Didn’t sing once til they scored, cunts

How did they deserve it? Relying purely on counter attack like a League One side who drew us in the cup
We were our own worst enemy today constantly giving the ball away. The worst player for me was Cancelo constantly ignoring playing the ball out wide and in the process slowly quick attack to walking pace.

thought process.....he dummies and therefore makes eddy look at him....its not just the defenders.

Ederson plays the ball if Rashford is not there, ergo he is impacting his ability to play the ball. It's really that simple. I'd argue Akanji also easily plays the ball if there isn't a person clearly blocking him from accelerating. He's not just going to clatter into him, is he? Because then he'd be committing a potential red card offence if it's not offside.

Watched the game on BT and the studio referee Walton was asked if the first goal should have stood. He said the ref on the pitch and var were correct then went onto say because Rashford didn’t touch the ball twatty could. He was asked but didn’t gashfords position not interfere with play? No said Walton there’s been a rule change this season. Well I’ve not heard it has anybody else?

Good approach play after we got over our nerves in the first half!!!! Even better 2nd half but we have no real cutting edge which seems crazy Always look vulnerable on the break. I can’t see anything in Phil of the person that I thought was going to be one of our greatest ever players. Accommodating the best goal scorer in the world is costing us and we’re struggling to adapt. So few chances being created. I’m no happy clapper but I still don’t think there is anyone that’s better than us so I still think we will win the league.

KDB is the biggest issue

Agree on the left back situation...6 years and counting now!

Bellingham for me doesnt change much
I agree KDB is not himself BUT he created a goal. Who else is creating any chances ??????

We all know what happened with the ref and VAR and operation get united back to the top 4 in full effect.

All that being said, that was much the same as Wednesday night. Our passing is so fucking sloppy and almost every chance united had was all down to our shit passing. We won’t win anything this season sadly if this continues.

What’s most frustrating is that is a poor united side and if we were anywhere near our best we’d of won that 3/4-0. Ref and VAR fucked us, but we also fucked ourselves being so poor.

Turned it off, what did he say?
He went on to say he doesn’t care if we don’t win the Premier League or Carabao Cup if we play well with the right attitude and just come up short. But that he hasn’t seen that from us!

It was a dig at the players more than him saying he doesn’t care about not winning those trophies.

No. We dominated possession and the flow of the game. We were once again poor in the final third and the players and management need to resolve that.
We can dominate possession all day, bar Grealish scoring and walkers speculative effort the donut thief was smoking cigars

This season is now all about saving the prestigious 4th place trophy and securing CL football next year. Dreadful performance from us (once again) today. Managing a terrible 1 shot on target despite having 70%+ possession, thats one (1) shot on target from open play in our last 235 mins of football, a stat that is nothing but awful. We obviously got robbed by the ref on their equalizer, but that doesnt excuse our own performance and before we point fingers we should look ourselves in the mirror. With the expception of our goal, we created absolutely nothing. Was expecting us to come out with adrenaline, determination & a point to prove after terrible results lately and the fact that it is a derby. Was shown the exact opposite, just sad to see the rags embarrassing park the bus and boot it long football created more chances than us. If we cant even step up in games like these anymore, I dont think we can turn it around this season. We've simply lost our mojo. Always next year.

Far too many emotionalised posts on the thread, due to the nature of the defeat and the opponent.

We were away against a team only 4 points behind and on a sustained run of form. We were never going to play them off the park. It was always going to be a tight, cagey, almost latter stages of the CL type of game. It felt like that for the entire 1st half.

Up until their 1st goal I felt the game plan of retain control and take 1 or 2 of the few clear chances we create, had been executed brilliantly.

Then, a decision beyond bent, changes the whole game. It’s not even worth debating what was clearly offside and clearly a ridiculous decision.

The momentum swung and they caplitalised.

We 100% didn’t deserve to lose that game.

Thought Rodri, who I’m not usually a fan of, was excellent and was the best player on the pitch.
