I'm not paying for the main event thankfully. My mate sold his business and had been telling me for years (we've known each other since our young footballing days) that when he sold it, he'd pay for me to go. I've been trying to dissuade him but, in the end, he just booked it. I reckon it cost him £10k plus.
Having said that, with lessons and clothing I reckon I've seen off about £1.5k already and I'll have to pay my share of bar bills, tips etc when we get there. I believe the cost of those is a bit eye-watering too. As far aa glasses are concerned, I had new lenses in my eyes (which I was going to do anyway) at the cost of a mere £7k and, in for a penny, in for a pound a pair of Costa green mirror sunglasses. At £200 they won't be seeing the light of day until I get there.
Now you know why I'm still working 3 years after I "retired" !
Had three trout during my lesson today so things are coming on quite well.
