Clarkson. Finished?

Ok. Fair enough. But let's just extend the hypothetical situation a little.

Someone akin to Andrew Tate has pitched up in the Trafford Center.
"
He's exercising his 'free speech' to tell everyone how 16-year-old girls are fair game and how his techniques of emotional abuse will lead to sex with someone who's essentially still a child (all things he's actually said in the public domain).

You're there with your teenage daughter.

Happy to let him carry on while you toddle off home?
Shame on the Trafford centre I'd say.
Clarkson has been spouting stuff for years with the blessing of "Auntie fucking Beeb" the outrage was at a minimum then- What the fuck has happened to people since?
Serious question...?
And why is no one blaming the platforms that have aired it while they get off scott free in big circle jerk virtue signal earning brownie points into the bargain. All bollox.

Why can't we just cancel him on an individual basis if we don't like him? It was like this with Joe Rogan and loads of others. I've no objection to folk calling these people cunts and deciding not to watch them, but the whole cancelling thing is part petty vengeance and more worryingly the desire to control what others see. I'd worked out for myself that Clarkson was a **** and not worth watching years ago - I think everyone should have the right to do likewise or disagree and watch everything he does. If enough folk think he's crap and switch channels he'll soon get cancelled, and it will be the end of his pretty obvious panto-villain grift.

You'd have thought not. I think society has changed due in part to social media and also TV reality shows which encourage the culture of public shaming and apology, along with nobodies having the power to 'vote people off' etc. It's crossing over into real life, and we now effectively have trial by twitter.

I agree, I like watching Clarkson, i enjoyed Clarksons farm. I don't agree with what he said about Meghan. But he's apologised and I will go on watching him.

Isn’t that exactly what has happened though?

he really hasn't , he's taking the piss with that apology
I think so too, but how much apology is enough? I get the sense that the folk who want him cancelled want him cancelled and are not really open to changing their minds - he might as well do a 'fuck you' apology, or no apology.
