Cover versions you think were better than the originals

I've previously demurred from posting this cause I know Neil Young fans are a dedicated bunch, so I'm going to say this is as good in it's own very different way.

Margo Timmins's on stage aesthetic has subtlety changed over the years, she started as typical alt.country, then morphed into a 'wasted soccer mom' vibe and I now I think she may be about to start a stoner granny phase. She's marvellous.

Margo the GILF.

Not many Bowie covers that I think do the originals justice but just came across this one of Joe the Lion

IMO it’s a good cover as it replicates the original but it doesn’t put any new stamp on it so couldn’t be considered better . . as good as at best but that’d be pushing it.

As example; Here’s a Bowie cover with a new stamp on it, it’s not an exact copy of the original so becomes a rival to the original version.
Is it better than the original? Well that’s down to the listener but at least the listener can discriminate between them due to their differences (I actually prefer this ‘boned down’ M Ward version, because it put emphasis on the lyrics, but, then again, I’m weird like that).
