Everyone and their mother knows Dias and Laporte are better in almost every way compared to Ake and Akanji. It's clear that there's been a lot going on behind the scenes if Pep prefers them in a big game like this.

Only one problem with your theory. Ake, along with Mahrez (also much maligned on here) have been our best players in recent weeks.

Think it’s more of a back 3 with Lewis dropping in when he needs to. Spurs whole attack is based on Kane dropping and releasing Son and Kulusevski. If lewis and Rodri can pick up Kane and Walker and Ake’s speed to stop Son and Kulusevski we’ll be fine.

Dias can't push up like Akanji or Ake does. He's uncomfortable with it.

I think Dias is a bit underrated on the ball, personally. I've always thought that's where Ake struggles.
