One game too far for the intensity. If we went fully it at too soon we would of got picked off and crashed out of the tie in the first leg. Haaland's miss didn't help.
 
absolute lack of any creativity down the wing. Grealish and Mahrez did well scoring the goal but that was both of them picking middle positions after Leipzig stupidly gave away the ball.

otherwise we create fuck all generally from out wide. not sure how long we can get away with that in CL or PL. I assume not very long.

the pressing ability of a Haaland, Grealish, Mahrez trio vs Foden, Sterling, Jesus trio, is night and day. on top of thatsaid we create fuck all from wide areas...
its either someone like Gundo, KDB plays in a good ball and breaks the line or we are fucked.

Leipzig probably finished this game with a mindset they can come to Etihad play like 2nd half and may even qualify for next round.

they are no pushovers, have a good manager, some great players and lot of energy, more energy than we have seemingly.

wish we had been going for scoring the second more but now it feels like we are lucky it we didnt lose it. quite a bad outcome after the quiet but very good first half.

unfortunately it wasnt that we dominated them totally more like they realized we are not as good and second half they gave up their less risky defensive play and straightaway they posed lot of threat.

problem is there are some teams that are levels above this Leipzig. Napoli, if we meet them, with this display today we probably lose 3-1. same vs Real...

Hahahahah. Good one. A decent result but Pep always says it’s how we play that is most important and that 2nd half was boring. We only looked better in the 1st half cause they were so poor. We have serious problems and I still can’t believe so many on here are blind to it.
 
I thought once we got Haaland there would be no stopping us.

It's the other way round, something is very wrong since signing Haaland. Something is seriously wrong.

Did Pep want Haaland ?

Why wont we pass to Haaland ?

The most wanted striker in the world came to us, than we dont pass to him is totally bizarre.

I wouldnt blame Haaland for fucking off in the summer. He was even taken of penalty duties by the players

Pep is too pragmatic for that. He wants total control and I don’t think we will see the best of haaland unless that changes. Pep is a very defensive coach just not in the typical ‘park the bus’ way
 
Haaland proper pissed off at full time there don’t blame him . Run his bollocks off all night and hardly any city player passed to him or tried to get him in . This is our problem this season Pep needs to sort it ASAP or we win nothing it’s as simple as that I’m afraid.
 
I've seen worse teams win the CL but that's about the only hope I have. First half dominant but fuck me, we either pass it backwards or try a flick rather than just shooting. Then in the 2nd half we were swarmed and couldn't do a thing. Defending for their goal was shocking.

Haaland must be fuming playing in this team at the moment. Bernardo just doesn't work as a deep lying creative player. Too many touches, too many turns, not enough control when overrun. Gundogan just disappears.

The system is forcing us to go wide then absolutely miles backwards because a player is now so so isolated. Surprised Pep hasn't ditched it...he must see we are all over the shop. If we were scoring 4 goals but shipping 3 I could see why we would stick. But I don't see how this system is going to work unless we see him use a different combo in midfield.

Anyway 1-1 away aint bad. But it is going to be a nervy return leg with them on the counter.
 
It sums up City's performance this season. Slow play, side passes, safe play and no crosses. In addition, Pep does not use the substitutes to give the team any support in the second half.
 
Erm. Not sure what happened there. Totally bossed first half then vanished. Where did Bernie, rodders and gundogan go in the second half. And why no subs to regain foothold?! Meh, should do the job at the etihad. Hope so.
 
Gr8 first half. Overall though we would have walked these games. Why play Haaland if we are not going to use him ? Grealish improving but give me Sane any day. More direct, created more chances. No counter attacking anymore. We get the ball out of defence quickly, hold on to it and pass back. Too many stray passes. 1 goal never enough as we dont create anything like the chances we used to. We may well get into the last 8 but cant see us beating the better teams in this competition.
