When we played Brentford in the FA Cup in 1988 I called the Brentford club call from work.I'm sure they used to do a ticket information line as well 10 minutes listening to crap before they actually told you what you needed to know ,but you had to ring it because the oticket office never answered the phone
In 1987 I listened to a full members cup match Vs Plymouth on clubcall from a pay phone inside a pub in Surrey. I popped 10 pence in and I got the full 90 minutes for some strange reason. Now that was value for money for a city fan working away. The only downside was Brian Clarkes commentary.
Which 3 did you miss?
I know that hence why i said which 3 did you miss to XGortons now deleted post which said 16.10+1 = 11
6+2 =8
11+8 =19
Yep everyday cost a fortuneUsed to drive my mum mad many years ago running up huge bills phoning this to get latest news on city. Seemed to remember the introduction lasted 5 minutes.
Just trying to explain to my teenage daughters the changes in the last twenty years.
Anyone else used to use it?
Ahhh I see.I know that hence why i said which 3 did you miss to XGortons now deleted post which said 16.
I used to get the ClubCall number off Ceefax, a bollocking ensued when my mum saw the bill. Looking back, listening to us being linked to Ronaldinho whilst playing in division 1 was probably the time I should have realised this wasn’t really a good use of my time and my mums money. There was a bit of a crossover actually. There was a page on Ceefax, can't remember the number, I'm sure some other blues will, that gave you the ClubCall headlines. It was the pre-internet version of the Transfer Forum I suppose! It would give you a headline next to your clubs name with transfer speculation. I always used to check that out, but never phoned up because I'd have been thrown out of the house!
The closest I came to ringing was when we were linked with David Platt. He was England captain at the time and playing for Juventus. There was rumours at the time that he was a boyhood City fan, but that, and seemingly the speculation, turned out to be bollocks!
6-2, the Tuesday after the 10-1?
There can’t be many football fans who’ve seen 19 goals over two consecutive games in just three days?
The week before the 10:1 we also beat Swindon 4:3 didn't win!6-2, the Tuesday after the 10-1?

Going back to 'club call' I remember phoning from a payphone at a wedding once to find out the City score (can't remember the game or the wedding...though I know it wasn't mine!!)
