Fortunately they got exactly what they deserved out of the game. That's what the likes of Dixon and Neville should be focusing on.

In the first half Rodri had a shot well saved, Grealish should've done better with his shot that went wide & Haaland missed a sitter!
In the second half Haaland put a header over the bar & Alvarez should've done a lot better when he shot over the bar.
So in the game i watched we scored one and had five decent chances & as i can't remember Ederson having a shot to save, i'd hardly say we got away with it at all.

Don’t forget the Palace keeper making a brilliant save to keep out Foden’s free kick.

Alvarez was excellent whem he came on, the energy and desire. And the whole team showed real fight and aggression after scoring the goal, which was key.

one thing we were rubbish imo is crossing from wide.
even second half, Ake had a great chance to whip in a cross, he failed it was blocked, they went on a counter from it and Ake got a yellow from it.
other side Stones had two great crossing chances but he overhit both...

that is what happens where your fullbacks are not specialist LB or RB who are good at crossing or attacking phase of the game.

cant really fault Ake and Stones as they are certainly not the Dani Alves, Kolarov, Cancelo etc type of fullbacks but I do wonder if Pep will finally bring one like that in especially after sending Cancelo away.

also this is something we need to work at as in CL small mistakes punished, and this is an issue we cannot put in great crosses from fullbacks even when they have a great crossing chance, all the time in the world to make that cross as others take away the defenders with their movements etc...
probably Palace did not even worry too much of leaving fullbacks more space and kind of rightly so...

otherwise hard earned win and very important one, thank God we did not miss the pen, lets hope Fulham can do some magic today. if not, then Arse beats this limited Palace at home surely next week and then its an 8 point gap when come back from the break, even with game in hand, but that 8 points just does not feel right.

I understand Akanji has been great for us in terms of reliability and availability but he shouldn’t be playing this many games for us, every pass is sideways and backwards plus when he does try a forward pass he hesitates and gives it away.
Have a few fouls away aswell that didn’t need to be, he great as a 4/5 th choice centre back but there is huge gaps In his game.

The problem with him for me is his performances are very mixed. Does some things very well and very bad in the same game. Like when he was asleep for the free kick when he let Zaha run off him.

We showed our intention from the kick off.
It was only a matter of time before we scored.
They had a couple of minutes at the end which we could have managed a bit better as individuals and a team.
More than happy with the performance and result.

One thing that never looks like improving is our corners, I honestly don't understand how difficult it can be to cross a ball in with nobody around you at a decent height and try and find one of your own players
Ours either hit the first defender or are hit that high they clear everyone. Yesterday's were as bad as I've ever seen

He's a 5th choice quality player getting the minutes of a 2nd/3rd choice (Laporte's minutes)

Take the win but we need to take those chances, not being too critical but Haaland should of had 2. In tight games, we need to put away the clear chances or another Forest type situation comes up

Indeed we are. I get irritated when players let a ball go out for a throw in as we invariably lose possession from it. In fairness it is not just our team that does this, lots of others do the same, I do find it odd though.
