No such thing as a silencer on a firearm.
They are either a suppressor or a sound moderator.
And the gun needs to be using sub-sonic ammo or the crack of the bullet going through the sound barrier renders any sound suppressor pointless.
I'm glad you put musty right on this. Honestly, the levels of ignorance on here around firearms disgust me.

I had a shotgun certificate for 30 years (and owned a semi- auto and an over/under during that time) and also did a bit of pistol shooting about 30 years ago,so I have a rudimentary knowledge of shooty things .

Edit. After reading the last but one post, I need to point out that I am not,and never have been a drug dealer !!

You beat me to it

You beat me to it.
Some of us limeys are actually quite knowledgeable about firearms/guns.
Although I must admit that I had a lot of excellent guidance in the past,as both my older brother-in-law's were Royal Marine Commandos who both went on to become specialist firearms officers( one in Devon and Cornwall and one in Norfolk Constabulary).

I knocked out a few pills and Phet to my mates during the early nineties, never owned or fired a firearm...I tell a lie I shot my mates Webley & Scott .22 air rifle and gave myself a black eye on the Tele sight

How did you end up a drug dealer then?

I owned a BSA meteor for about 25 years, upto about 6/7 years ago.It was a decent air rifle for it's price, but I've looked at some new ones online and they are absolutely amazing, but so are their prices ,so I won't be buying one anytime soon.
I had an air pistol back in the 70s, which I purchased from Hurleys in Piccadilly. I ended up shooting my younger brother in the face( just above his upper lip) when we were fucking about in Alkrington Woods . Luckily he wasn't seriously hurt, but it didn't go down too well with our Dad and Mum ,as you can imagine.
They made me take it back to Hurleys, and I exchanged it for a white leather Casey football.
I never fucked about with ANY gun after that incident,it really drove home how much you have to practice firearm safety at all times.

I have no doubt about that, wasn't trying to imply any such thing
