No such thing as a silencer on a firearm.
They are either a suppressor or a sound moderator.
And the gun needs to be using sub-sonic ammo or the crack of the bullet going through the sound barrier renders any sound suppressor pointless.

You need to amend the Wiki page then if they don’t exist

You need to read the Wiki page first.
It actually states that it REDUCES the noise that a firearm makes,that's why they are known as suppressors or sound moderators. As I already stated,if you use the wrong type of ammo(not sub-sonic) the crack of the bullet going through the sound barrier will be very noisy.
Also ,it's possible to hear the metallic noise of the slide cycling when it loads the next round into the chamber.
And lastly,it's virtually impossible to silence a revolver( often seen in Hollywood movies) as the gap between the revolving chamber and the barrel allows hot gas to escape at high speed which is basically a small explosion and is very noisy.

It's weird, whenever I have friends over they all want to go shooting. I sight in my rifles before hunt season and that's about it.

When I lived in Thailand I once had 11 local police officers decide to have a food and beer l at my house during there diner time, about 5 of them offered to let me have a go shooting rheir revolvers/shotguns but I had no interest tbf

Myself and several other posters pulled him up and explained that there is no such thing as a firearm silencer.

If a silencer is used it will quieten the sound enough so possibly nobody in the houses nearby heard anything?

I didnt mistakenly make a mistake. It was a joke 'I didn't hear anything ' 'perhaps he used a silencer' as opposed to
'I didn't hear anything' 'having read up on Wikipedia it is possible that the miscreant perhaps he used a noise suppressing and /or possibly cancelling nozzle on the end of his firearm similar to a cigar tube but somewhat sturdier'
