Liverpool (H) | Post-Match Thread

TAA and VVD are shit at defending. It’s being exposed in their new system, where the DMs aren’t doing it for them. Grealish and Mahrez ran at them at every opportunity. I don’t think Grealish was tackled once yesterday. That was his best performance hands down. When he gets the ball and runs at the defence they absolutely shit themselves. Incredible performance.
Was funny hearing Dutch greats calling out Virgin van Dick this week. Van Basten said he talks all the time but doesn’t say anything. Ouch!

I don't think Arsenal need to collapse, just lose two games: one against us and another one. We've peaked at the right time and it wouldn't surprise me if we went on to win all of our remaining Premier League games.
Agreed, but our PL destiny is dependent on Arsenal losing to us & another team, & us not losing either.

It's the Premier League. This is easier said than done. We've just gotta do what we've gotta do & whatever will be will be...

John Stones is a fucking outstanding footballer.

His reading of the game is flawless and it’s that that always allows him space and time and subsequently gives him the time to be composed as fuck.
Such a shame that when he's playing for England he has to spend most of his time telling Declan Rice where the space is, as he can't fucking see him stood behind players .

It's nothing new. He does it every game. Thinks he can get an insight into the opposition's little tweaks for the upcoming game that video analysis might not have shown.

Agree with the weird **** bit though.
It made me laugh that whilst he's stood there like a voyeur watching our players on their technical rondo, different colours and players having to use their brains quickly as yellow bibs become opposition and in the next moment team mates, the Liverpool players are stood opposite each other playing five yard passes, left foot, right foot, like the under tens

I also watched them warm up
They didn’t look very professional. Half hearted at best
The warm up stretches looked like a Sunday league team

Allison practising his passing out was also poor
He didn’t look comfortable on the ball at all and that’s without being closed down

I actually almost had a full on scrap with an ex pro football player, who is now a manager for a lower league club… the night before the country went into lock down. Over VVD and TAA. He said VVD was the best CB he’s ever seen in his life and TAA the best RB of all time. I said both were the most over hyped players, I had ever seen in my entire life. VVD is a great talker/organiser. But he was completely protected by 3 DMs. Imagine having 3 Rodri’s in your team. They were never exposed defensively. Now because of their system change, he is exposed, and he’s just as I said, a decent mid table defender. TAA is on another level though, he’s absolutely crap at defending. His reading of the game is at a Sunday league level. He’s got an unbelievable pass, but for me he should be playing attacking midfield for someone like Burnley. I’m not even joking.

He's right in saying it. Since his injury he hasn't been anywhere near the same player, van basten hit the nail on the head.
How many times do you see him running back to his own goal? Quite a lot. He puts the ball out of play frequently, this is when he is trying his 80 yard hollywood balls. And everytime they concede he is horribly out of position and then proceeds to throw his hands in the air in an eppy.

The worlds best defender? Do me a fuckin favour.

Agreed. The point I'm making is Arsenal have the advantage & it's their title to lose.

When Arsenal lost against Everton, many of us wanted the PL trophy handed to us there & then, & were contacting Bet Fred for an early payout.

However I warned that Arsenal's loss would only be our gain if we capitalised on it, & we fucked up. Nothing's a foregone conclusion, but we're relying on ourselves to win our game in hand & to beat Arsenal at the Etihad, but that still leaves a two point deficit.

Arsenal are in as much danger of dropping points as we are, as this season's proved. We've failed to take our advantages throughout the season & now the PL title is out of our hands.

I just feel our current form has come too late for us to control our PL destiny in the games left, hence why we're relying on Arsenal faltering at some point which I'm increasingly failing to see...
We can revisit this conversation in a couple months.

I noticed them doing warm ups in pairs.
And i also noticed how amatuerish it looked.
Here they are playing the champions and they are warming up by throwing the ball to eachother and doing headers.

My lads U15s team don't even do that.

Maybe bingo watches other teams warm up to get tips for his own warm ups.

Very strange.

On MoTD, the commentator says City only has four wins in the last sixteen games in all competitions against Liverpool.

Can't be arsed looking, but that surely isn't correct.
It was close 5 wins out of 16, with Liverpool winning 7.

But it's also a bit of a contrived fact, as 3 of those Liverpool wins were the first 3. Up until the FA Cup last year, Liverpool had won 1 in 9 against us, and as of today, Liverpool have 4 wins in their last 14 against us.

Let's not! Lol :-)

I'm hoping we prevail with every ounce of my fibre, but considering games left I doubt we have enough time to make up the difference. I'm hope I'm wildly wrong about this... )(
All we're hoping for is Arsenal draw a game before they play us
A friend of a friend is an Arsenal fan and every now and again we exchange a WhatsApp
He's still of the belief City will win the league

Totally agree mate.

Take away the (very good) delivery from wide positions and there isn’t much else left with TAA.

100% not a RB on any planet, either.

It’s genius what Pep has come up with for Stones, we now have a double pivot and Stones has got the capability to take the ball at pressure and look forward. It opens up extra options of passing lanes going forward rather than just Rodri finding them. Probably why we have created and scored a lot more goals recently.
it like having 2 Rodris. almost cheat mode.

Yeah but they’ve “shared” dominating the game with us over the last few years ;)
