Liverpool (H) | Post-Match Thread

Someone has suggested that it’s a rule that all subs must warm up in the opposition half as the linesman. Which would virtually always be on the left of dug outs. If that’s the case you’ve got a pretty small area where you’re allowed to pass between the home technical area and the pitch.

I can’t find anything to verify that though. Maybe the guy who said it can give a source for that info?

I’ve been trying to recall where away team subs normally warm up. As ridiculous as it seems, despite going to probably something like 500 games at this ground, I can’t ever remember noticing before.
Both sides subs warm up in the section between the half way line and the family stand in the league games

In that case, it would be virtually impossible for away subs not to enter either the home technical area or the pitch when going back to their bench. Unless they stop and kind of do tightrope walking steps to make sure the stay away from both.

In the olden days you could pass back to the goal keeper. Which is when their previous league title the one they’ve won recently was lifted.
So True.everyone forgets how their 70s/80s title wins were based upon repetitive pass backs to Ray Clemence, esp away matches.
Time wasting red twunts.

Also,Clemmence acted as their sweeper and if he couldn't get to the ball first he made sure he got the man. These days he would have been sent off for, violent conduct or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Then I don't think he was even booked.

They got away with a lot back in the day ...not much has changed tbf.

I found it interesting to see an article about John Aldridge having a go at Pep for his goal celebration on sat ..saying it was disrespectful or words to that affect..

He obviously has forgotten his own celebration when the Hillsborough disaster semi final re forest was replayed; Liverpool scored and he took the piss out of the forest defender at fault who had sunk to his knees..( Brian laws or Steve Chettle iirc) by laughing and ruffling his hair as he ran past...a real twunts trick of a celebration in the circumstances...

How many times did this happen? I can’t personally recall ever seeing it. Which doesn’t mean it never happened. But to suggest a major part of their game plan was to have the ‘keeper rushing out and cleaning out the striker is a bit of a push.

He fills a roll. A completely one eyed idiots guide to being a Liverpool fan that the intended audience lap up.

If you read the full article it’s a full house in the anti City bingo game.

* We couldn’t possibly compete with City’s billions.

* Grealish was ok but for £100 million he should be and is still a diving twat.

* Rodri is a cheat, as was Fernandinho, and should have been sent off.

* I’m such a geezer I would have butted Pep if he’d tried that with me.

* And of course, a long and detailed account of how the whole crowd was constantly singing Hillsborough songs.

He’s probably too stupid to realise what his roll actually is in the media but he inadvertently fills it to perfection.

They could walk in front of the bench. No need at all to go through the Technical Area, especially if there's a manager celebrating in it.

I don't remember many occasions of that either but they did absolutely bore everyone to death with their style of football. Truly awful stuff. The only good thing was it was them that prompetd the rule change about the backpass which has improved the game enormously.

It’s a long time ago and I was young. But it’s not quite my memory. They had plenty of wonderful attacking footballers back in those days. And while most English teams were deploying stereotype brick shit house centre halves, they had some fantastic skilful footballers in those positions.

On another note, if the FA are going to be so quick in charging Liverpool over the conduct of their players, perhaps the relevant authorities should clamp down just as hastily on the behaviour of certain factions within some club’s supporters over offensive chanting.

It's NEVER their fault ;)
