An update from Spike for those who were enquiring about whether there would be a Sport Options trip for the semi-final away leg.

-----------------------------------

Dear Man City Fan ,

First of all thanks so much for showing interest in our potential flight to Madrid for the semi final.

Also thanks for to all those who travelled with us to Munich last week.

Sadly it has so far not been possible for us to secure a suitable aircraft for the semi final.

Aircraft offered to us are way higher than our target price range . One of our regular airlines did suggest that they had something available but for whatever reason it was then not available and we suspect this maybe due to lack of spare crew due to increased flying around these bank holiday weekends.

The reduced ticket allocation for Madrid is also a concern to us in terms of filling an aircraft ...especially if the price is even higher than Munich.
We do plan to offer options for Istanbul and we are already planning this.

In the meantime we wish Manchester City and their supporters all the best for the semi final with Real Madrid.

Kind regards,
Team Sport Options
And Spike

I work in the airline industry and capacity is really, really tight this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see fewer options for travel to Istanbul than people expect (if we get there). There simply aren't aircraft and crews sat around and airlines would look to charge serious money to leave an aircraft sat around Istanbul when it could be flying other flights and making money. Lots of airlines are short of aeroplanes, pilots or both!

Hopefully The Sheikh can pull some strings with Etihad if it comes to it and Spike can find some airlines who can do the work - his Porto trip was great.

I couldn’t make it to Porto as was away, out of interest how many nights away were the Sport Options trips? Did they offer different numbers of nights etc?

I just don’t want to have to do a day trip or 1 night trip if we make it to Istanbul, do you think anyone will do a couple of nights trip?

Porto had the option of 2 nights Fri - Sun

The club aren’t doing any official trips either so I imagine tickets will go to quite low points.
Do we have any idea why the club have pretty much stopped doing trips?? Too much trouble caused, too many complaints from the provider, or do we simply not have a travel partner now??

That’s promising, Istanbul far enough away that 2 nights minimum imo.
I disagree.
I don't think there is much value in staying over the night of the game. Won't be getting out of the ground if we win until about 1am so that will be straight back to the hotel to sleep, especially as the ground is miles from the centre.
Flying straight home after the game and being in the airport and on a flight with loads of other blues will be more fun.

I’m fancying 3 nights, fly out Friday and have the night out, then game day, then a nice leisurely Sunday chilling, fly home Monday.

Owner of sports world told me in Munich it shall be a 2 night trip. Going Friday.
They already have the trip planned out.
