Arsenal (H) | Post Match Thread

I didn’t know where to post this but as I thought about what the difference was between both teams was having big balls. Already there are a a narrative that we went long to Haaland but we didn’t, we play incredible risky passes to beat to the press & Arsenal didn’t. They went long because they didn’t beat the press.

Going back to 2016 all the so called experts were critical of Stones & look at what he’s become. He could have been ruined under another Manager.

Looking back, bizarrely, this was one of the easiest, most one-sided games I've seen at the Etihad all season. Most of the bottom half clubs gave us more of a workout I think. We absolutely controlled the game from start to finish and had Haaland not missed chances he'd normally bury, we'd have score 6 or 7.

Absolutely. Also Pep will fucking murder him for not passing to Kev at 1-0 for a tap in for 2-0. I'm right behind that goal and I was going fucking mad. All's well that ends well.

John Stones got the balls
John Stones got the balls
Kyle Walker got the cock
but stones got the balls

Thought big erl had one of his best games for us last night, of course we all expect him to score every chance, but he tore arsenal apart last night, I personally think we got a glimpse of just how fucking awesome he will become, not just scoring but his all round game, dominating defences across Europe,

Kudos to the Arsenal fans I spoke to, they said we are the best team they've ever seen and we battered them.
One of my united fan mates (a genuine fan not a rag) text me during the match and said he’d take a 4-0 loss in the final right now and that this City team is the best football team he’s ever seen, always appreciate it when real football fans can put allegiances aside and speak honestly with no agenda or bitterness.

Spot on. One of the biggest differences all night was our willingness (esp. Ederson, Stones and Dias, but Walker and Akanji as well) to play risky passes into Rodri and Gundogan in tight spaces - and their ability to deal with those passes and move us through the lines. The way we did it was breathtaking at times.
By contrast, the way they moved the ball in deeper areas was all very safe and predictable - a lot of ‘horseshoe’ passing from one fullback to the centre-halves/keeper and out the other side, with very few forward passes to break the lines. And our pressing was so good that they then ended up forced into going long, and we invariably turned it over.
No doubt we made very effective use of the longer ball into Haaland and De Bruyne, but it was hardly the single key to the performance.

Played out to my expectation. Had a good vibe about today and put £1.50 on at 18/1 for 4 - 1

Some bizarre decisions or lack of by Oliver. How did Partey not get a 2nd yellow. White pushes Dias into corner flag and a yellow for our player.

Played like champions and as often the case the big game players step up. Kev was brilliant and the 1st goal only he could do that.
Partey should have had at least 3 yellows.

Earlier in the season when Arsenal was having a good ride people dared to compare Odegaard to the Brilliant Belgian?, some suggesting that the former is better?
They were comparing before the game.
Think it was keown
Who was all for Ødegaard until the very last second when he changed his mind lol

Ødegaard stats are better this season. Goals wise at least.
Big game goals…. De Bruyne steps up…..
