And for their troubles, the poor cunts got invited to Old Trafford to watch the ragsI watched the one about the young football team trapped in a cave in Thailand. Incredible how they got them out.
And great Doco.
It's brilliant TV. I only ever recall seeing one sided news reports of IRA bombs but this shines a light on both sides and their reasons for it.Started "Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland" last night on BBC iPlayer. Fascinating so far.
Tongue in cheek and a great way to spend an hour....
Not seen the film but after watching this I will for sure.Did you watch the film too?
Born in 1962, spent 40 years living in Northern Ireland Watched 2 episodes and very hard to watch. Friends who've killed and been killed. I've read both John Chambers (guy who thought mum was dead) and Terry Hooley books. Been tough watch so farIt's brilliant TV. I've "enjoyed" hearing both sides, I've never been to the north but it's a sharp realisation that this was right on the doorstep not some far flung country. What strikes me is how uncomfortable most of the interviewees are talking about it all, even now. Utterly heartbreaking what happened, people killing their own countrymen.Born in 1962, spent 40 years living in Northern Ireland Watched 2 episodes and very hard to watch. I watched it last week and loved it, but at the same time it was hard to watch him struggling just like my dad in his last years. Truly horrible disease. Not sure if already mentioned on here but the Michael J Fox documentary on Apple entitled ‘Still’ is excellent.
You can only admire the guy for what he has been through, bearing in mind he was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of twenty nine and he still retains a sense of humour. In addition he has become an Advocate for fellow sufferers of what is a horrible disease.
