Premier League (midweek) Games 2/3/4 May '23

He benefitted greatly from having the best manager in the world. He’s an average footballer (always was) with some great attributes. Pep got the most out of those attributes but Sterling was too stupid to see it. Sterlings mistake was thinking we needed him, more than he needed us.
I would easily agree and sign everything you wrote except from the "average" term. Sterling looks / is shockingly bad when not focused and not motivated. Like tonight. His performance and whole attitude during first half is nothing less than a disgrace, an insult to his profession. Hands down the worst player on the pitch -and that's saying something...

I don't necessarily expect him to make a difference in a bad team, but he has the best contract in the squad, if I'm not mistaken. Yet he appears on the pitch with zero concentration and disinterested. Totally unprofessional, totally unacceptable...

He continues like this, very soon he will become another problem their CEO will have to deal with...

Always associated Chelsea with having at least one in the team who was hard as nails and actually a bit of a thug, right back from Harris in the 1960s through to Rudiger more recently. Sometimes it felt as if half their team matched that description, but not now. Very soft.

A few players, after leaving a Pep managed side, have appeared (or said) to have lost their passion for football (whatever level they had, anyway; we have to remember for us it is a dream, for them it has been an all encompassing pursuit that, for many, has required major sacrifice and even suffering at times).

I think it is a case of eventually hating the constant demands to be better, the pressure to perform at the highest level just to play, and wanting to go elsewhere to feel more free and hopefully enjoy yourself more, only to realise that playing for Pep was the peak of your career (both in club achievement and in personal performance), that you’ll likely never experience that level of success again, and often wishing you could go back, but knowing you can’t.

As they say, you can never go home again.

who said they lost their passion for football?
