How many times do some of you lot want Messi to make City look like fools?

He's rejected us twice now. Why do it to yourselves?

Has Saudi Arabia writen all over it. At 35 having won everything, culminating with the world cup, who can blame him if they are offering £300m a year.

has he? I seem to recall it was barca who blocked the deal the 1st time, and we didn't even offer the 2nd time.

You’re correct.

I’m fairly certain that if we opened the door in 2021 he would’ve come. It’s been reported by very reputable people that he was in contact with Pep. For whatever reason we believed bringing him in could jeopardize Grealish and Kane (lol).

Talks with Messi’s representatives, led by his father Jorge, are underway for when the player becomes a free agent at the end of June upon the expiration of his Paris Saint-Germain contract. There are discussions that the whole package could be worth $400 million annually (£320 million) that would exceed even the £165 million that Cristiano Ronaldo is being paid annually to play in Saudi until the summer of 2025.

The conventional process for signing the world’s top talent, as with Ronaldo in December, has been for deals to have state involvement before a final destination club is decided.

The Saudi government has recruited the former Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook, who was in charge of the club when the Abu Dhabi takeover was completed in 2008, in a similar position in the Saudi Pro League. It is anticipated that he will be involved in any discussions to secure Messi’s signature.
Looks like our old mate Garry got himself a top position.

I’d love it. Genuinely.

But the radio silence in terms of links says it all. He’ll be going somewhere like America or Saudi if he can’t go back to Barca.

I think the WC means he hasn’t got anything to prove anymore. He’s not arsed about never proving himself in the PL. Why would he be?

No chance. Money talks for him. Even when you are as rich as him and Ronaldo.

Once you've proven everything, I'm sure priorities change.

For him now he's maybe thinking about what he can do once he retires from football.

There's a lot of good you can do with £320m. He could set up a foundation like Bill Gates. Hopefully he does something positive.

He is already a £25m a year ambassador for Saudi.

Messi is obligated to visit three times a year but had only visited once since agreement was signed.

Nice work if you can get it!
Really, the guy has so much money now, his next move should be about the football he play and lifestyle not the contract surely!
