I forgot about the game but looked on blue moon and saw something about it so I decided to watch it..just turned it on as it went 6-1...

The van der Venne miss, or should I say when he didn’t get enough contact on the ball, was the real turning point of the game
City were really controlling the match at that stage and if they’d got an equaliser I’m certain they would have ran out winners

He was excellent playing in Australia, I did have hopes he'd have had a chance with us but not to be.

Think he'd have been good on our bench.
 
Bos and now Tilio sold for apparently high fees, and quite a few other players have left as well. Feels like it’s going to be a transitional year for Melbourne City.
 
Gonna be in Thailand at end of November so will be keeping an eye on the Asian Champions League draw next month. Hopefully get to see the Aussie Blues in an away game.

Completely new team, only 4 players are from last season.

Undecided on any of the new blokes but from what I saw yesterday looks like we are going to struggle this season.
 
We suck. Just copped 6 away to Adelaide.

Man this team is the worst.

We got Sydney Friday night at home and they have been as poor, so the game is going to a battle of the losers.

Replaced the coach which I didn't see coming but fully understand. The new bloke Vidmar, not sure off.

Its safe to say that we are currently a completely new team zero points are 2 games, playing a fairly ordinary style and the only thing that is remotely positive we are doing okay in the Asian Champions League group stage, albeit against some pretty average teams.

Oh well lets see how we go, and who knows in a month this might seem as an over reaction.
 

Vidmar takes over: What do we know about him?​

With Wednesday’s announcement that Rado Vidosic would be departing Melbourne City FC after his side succumbed to yet another humiliating loss, it was announced that Aurelio Vidmar would be taking over.
We all remember his famous quotes about what he thinks is holding Adelaide United back, but what has he been up to since? What else do we know about him?
Let’s start with a look back at the former Socceroo’s playing career.
The now 56-year-old old started his senior journey as an 18-year-old plying his trade for Adelaide City FC. The natural goalscorer then set off for a period both in Europe and Asia before returning home to Adelaide City in 1999. During this period Vidmar racked up 44 appearances for the Socceroos and scored 17 times including against Argentina in 1993. Vidmar wrapped up his career playing for Adelaide United just before the A-League was born.
Vidmar then started his managerial journey with Adelaide United as an assistant coach before taking over as the Head Coach in 2007. He left this post in 2010 and then spent the next 6 years or so involved in the national setup both for the underage sides as well as the Socceroos.
Where Vidmar has been a senior manager, an impressive win ratio has been seen, with all sides bar his initial effort with Adelaide United sitting above 50%, with the lowest of all being 53% which was at the club formerly known as Bangkok Glass (now known as BG Pathum United Football Club, a name City fans will familiar with.)
City desperately needs a change at league level and needs to see results start to tick before the pack slips away from them and it becomes a season wasted.
Vidmar has been appointed not as the full-time manager but as a caretaker for the rest of the season. He will be desperate to get this City engine up and firing and put his name forward for the role full-time. Of course, the caretaker role is not unfamiliar to Melbourne City with this being how Rado took control of the Men’s side after Patrick Kisnorbo departed. Of course, in this instance, City was quick to upgrade Rado Vidosic into the role full-time after positive results, which is not something I think we will see from them again.
So where does Vidmar need to get this side to by the end of the season to keep the role as his own? You would imagine that the goal remains winning the league and looking to improve the poor record in Finals.
