had this little goshawk keeping the starling population down last winter. Saw it several times and heard the screeching of dying starlings
One of my favourite birds, great for hunting with.

Sat fishing on a local farmers pond yesterday morning and 2 geese landed...looked like a pair of jet skiers and then I spent 10 minutes with the company of a huge buzzard circling over head.
We also have a black and white blackbird nearby and oddly enough he's been around a few years now.
A retarded woodpecker who thinks the telegraph pole opposite is a tree, the noisy twat.....

Sparrow Hawk mate. We have one that uses our bird feeders as a fast food outlet. Poor little buggers don’t stand a chance. It is a beautiful bird though and unbelievable flier, it comes in fast and low through the trees and is nearly side on when it hits the unfortunate green finch/chaffinch/Siskin/great tit ...

Found a fledgling jackdaw in the garden today and spent the afternoon trying to stop our two Maine coons getting hold of it. Got a city t shirt as a birthday present on Saturday which is now ripped to fuck by the two little fuckers. I managed to save the Jackdaw and put it safely out of harms way. Every creature deserves a start in life, and as a bonus I’ve got something to clean the car with:-(

Seriously worried at the lack of martins, swifts, and swallows in our area. I have seen just three martins and nowt else. Usually plenty by now.

they are all up here in the foothills of the pennines, mate.
i've never ever seen so many of them.

funny thing is, there are loads of these large black flies,
huge fuckers with long trailing legs hanging underneath them.
no idea what they are or where they came from,
but the martins, swifts and swallows are gorging themselves.

Think they are called St Marks Fly.
