I've tweeted City re the blue car park opening times if/when they reply I'll pass the info on

But if it's free parking at the ground then there is no opening time, as it's always open. It just gets locked at night and unlocked around 8am.

Thanks from looking a live updates and needing to get to Didsbury first for an appointment at 13.00 (coming from the coast) I'm going to drop into East Didsbury Park & Ride ...state of the transport in Manchester.

The City Centre is going to be bedlam. Road closures and congestion. I'd try and park at a park and ride then get the met in if it's running.
