You should have twatted the ****I was sitting in a pub on my own once and reading a book on my Kindle app. This old Irish man stood a metre or so away from me and roared “Those things should be banned from fucking pubs.”
Would he have done the same if it had been a physical book or a paper? I was speechless.
I knew of him. Just one of those old bastards who hates everything and everyone. You should have twatted the ****
I can kind of see where he's coming from in a wierd way. Someone in a pub reading a book seems more sociable to me that someone doing the exact same thing but on a kindle. My mrs reads loads on her kindle and to me it seems a bit 'cold' whereas the book just seems so much more acceptable. Ah, you know what these Irish are like. They'd start a row in an empty phone box.I was sitting in a pub on my own once and reading a book on my Kindle app. This old Irish man stood a metre or so away from me and roared “Those things should be banned from fucking pubs.”

Took me a while to get used to ebooks but I'd never go back to paper now, far too handy being able to carry around hundreds of books in your pocket and access them off any device.I can kind of see where he's coming from in a wierd way. I use both. E-book for a long journey, a proper book for a pub or garden snooze. Nothing finer in my opinion. As for mobile phones...I carry it if I'm out and about but at home I usually have no idea where it is. Annoys the Wife no end. Plus I'm usually a few hours behind any conversations on it. The missus is one of those ladies who answers everything within seconds of it going off. Mines on silent.Took me a while to get used to ebooks but I'd never go back to paper now, far too handy being able to carry around hundreds of books in your pocket and access them off any device.
Attending a football match and seeing people around you watching the same game live through a screen via their phones makes me lol. Same for live concerts.
