If they were for 7 instead of for 5, then yes; their target would seem a long way away. Unfortunately, they're not. These two are very good batsmen, and the next two in (Carey and Cummins) are no mugs either. Can't see past an Aussie win, unfortunately.
 
This game has ebbed and flowed throughout and I expect another twist yet , wether that twist will be big enough is another question

I'm not going to criticise the style of play because it's fantastic and we are miles better as a result.

For me it's the Bairstow dropped catches which will lose us this test. It's a short intense Ashes and he has to be in the side, and I don't think I'd have played Foakes ahead of him because that means dropping Brook or Pope which you can't do either. Moeen coming back and being injured is another issue that's gone against us. But as I said, lots more cricket to come and having played India as well, the Aussies may fatigue come the end of the series where we start to peak.

I've not given up hope on this one yet. A magic spell from someone and a couple of wickets swings this back in our favour.
 
It’s unlikely that the worlds top 3 batsmen are all going to fail in both innings of the other tests. This is a test we need to win

Was also as unlikely that we would do so well in this one being hampered with 2 bowlers who can hardly bowl, I mentioned yesterday that I expected a better bowling attack for us in the next test , will it be enough ? Probably not , but im taking great heart from how we are competing against the best team in the world

The problem is that one of those 2 is the captain and is unlikely to bowl much in any of the tests. Regarding the other who is the spinner to replace him next test? If the selectors thought there was a better option why bring back Moeen? I agree we are battling very hard
 
We've had quite a few near misses...

Think our luck will turn when they get closer and the nerves start affecting them.

I feel we will play an extra seamer

This is a big test match for England and will go a long way in deciding who will win the ashes,
If England lose then I don't see us beating them twice in the rest of the series and they will win or retain the ashes
