The Titanic

It's actually an Xbox controller not playstation.

Microsoft make their controllers fully customisable and can be reversed engineered to perform all sorts of tasks. They are not just used for games consoles.

The US military use them to steer unnamed vehicles and drones for example.
And less impressively, the people who do the live stats for Premier League games.

Got to locate them first. Let's hope the banging noises continue so that they can narrow the search down quickly. Apparently ROVs have already been deployed and are looking in the area.

I guess if they do find them, then they may be able to attach some line? or some buoyancy to the sub to get it to the surface. Seems a slim hope but as long as there is hope you never give up.

I know people don't mean anything malicious by it but I'm inclined to agree with mossideblue.

I guess the reason this has made headlines despite much bigger mayhem in the world is a combination of it's the Titanic and it's such a macabre situation. If they are not to be rescued you really hope that it's suffered some sort of catastrophic failure which means they knew little about it.

Edit: are the noises being heard likely to be them, if so how realistic is it would to use the noises to reach them?
The banging heard has been at regular intervals (30 mins apart), so definitely the stricken craft.

Sadly, I suspect these have been heard too late for a timely recovery, but they will recover it if not tangled amongst the Titanic hull.

That’s not really fair.
It’s a worldwide story, the like we’ve not really seen before and has captured everyone’s attention. Nobody knows anyone on the sub. A bit of dark humour is inevitable.

I’ve not made any jokes as I’m not really the type for edgy and dark humour. I do think this is a bit of an unusual circumstance so it’s not a surprise people disagree on how to feel about it.

If you decide to go in a death trap of your own volition and sign a waiver where it says you could die three times on the first page… millions of people are unjustly robbed of life every day for things totally out of their control, safe to say this isn’t one of those occasions. Not saying people shouldn’t have sympathy but I think it’s no surprise some people are less considered than they would be otherwise.

I suspect they'd have a far better chance of being rescued if they were stuck on the moon than down there. Even if they had enough air/supplies to last another 2 weeks, this would still be a pretty much impossible mission. Let's hope I'm wrong but I can't see this ending well.

If they can locate them, then I think there is a chance. There are more ROVs that work effectively at that depth than submarines.

And for the price paid, too.
I saw one yesterday that said ‘£250,000 and they don’t even get to see Kate Winslets tits?’

People find humour sometimes where and when it’s not appropriate. As you say, this is an unusual situation and people are talking about it the world over.

If they find them in the next few hours you never know.
Fingers crossed

They're at regular intervals, rhythymic, similar to someone banging on the inside of the hull. Very unlikely to be anything else. Using sonar should help pinpoint their location.

There was more than enough room for Jack on that boat at the end, Winslet was a bitch
They tested this. It wasn't about staying afloat it was about keeping out of the freezing water. Both of them on the door at the same time would have submerged the debris, meaning both would have frozen to death.

Any reason why it’s every half an hour, maritime code if in distress ? I’d be at it every minute or so although there’s no chance you’d ever catch me in one of those.
